RK-9000BR Keycap Edges
« on: Sat, 15 September 2012, 23:41:46 »
I finally made the switch over to mechanical from a Logitech Illuminated. The high profile of the keys requires a bit of adjusting but one thing that keeps sticking in my mind when playing games is the angular keycap edges.

I'm using the RK-9000BR and was wondering if the Coolermaster Quickfire Rapid had smoother keycap edges... or is there a place I can buy replacement keycaps that have rounded edges?

Get yourself some cherry or SP caps.  Those are OEM caps that come stock.

SP/Cherry are lower profile but I think the OP is looking for something with rounded front edge

I am indeed, although I'm glad someone told me the Cherry's are lower profile before I replaced only a few caps and realized my mistake.

After using a Lenovo U330 I grew fond of scissor-switch keyboards and went through an Apple Aluminum Keyboard (deceased) and a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (missing keys) before moving over to this mechanical: When I am using the mechanical the high profile and cap edges bother... but when I attempt to go back to my scissor-switch keyboard the mushiness annoys me (didn't before!)  :))

I'll stick with it and adjust. Just to confirm the OEM caps on the Cooler Master are also higher profile then the Cherry's, correct?

Perhaps someone can prove me wrong, but I feel like the space between key cap tops are further apart and rounder on SP/Cherry

I think he's talking about just the front edge of the key cap being too sharp.
