Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I started watching it because it was culturally significant when I was growing up (which meant, of course, that I couldn't watch it) and it's free because of Amazon Prime.  The more I watch it, the more I realize it's an absolutely terrible TV show.  The show itself is absurd and Sarah Michelle Gellar isn't really a good actor, but for some reason, I can't stop watching it.

I just started Season 4.  Xander annoys me to no end and SMG has some weird mannerisms and a lot of non-acting that makes it a little hard to watch at times, not to mention how all around ridiculous some of the episodes are, but it's addicting and the supporting actors are all great.

Like I said though, there's something about it that sucks you in.  It's terrible, yet great at the same time.

season 4 is hands down my least favorite season but there is a lot of good and important **** to get through. season 3 is one of my favorites -- the big bad is awesome :D
xander... i love xander. but i can see how you'd find him annoying. he definitely comes into his own as the series progresses.

are you sick of the buffy grunt yet? every time i hear it i think of tommy from the rugrats.

I used to watch it. I am not sure whether it was really good. But I used to have a small crush on Sarah Michelle Gellar as a kid which was enough for me to watch it.

In recent years series have gotten so much better, which such great production qualities. Honestly there are few series from back then that I still really enjoy. There are some great shows I could still watch. Twin peaks, x-files etc. But I am not sure whether I could sit down and watch a season of Buffy. One thing I will say is that I think that the actors in the series kind of grew up and grew as actors over the years. I remember the latter series were a lot better than the ones in the beginning.

Was one of my favorite shows, back in the day.  Suffers by comparison to modern shows, as there are so many well-written TV shows airing now, but at the time, it was a rare treat to have a show that didn't pander to the lowest common denominator.

Some of the episodes are absolute classics (Hush, for one...), others are more run-of-the-mill.  I think I stopped watching when it got really dark and depressing, around Season Five (?).  Angel is also one of my favorite series, especially the final season, truly a series that ended on a high note!

I love all of Joss Whedon's shows for their atmosphere.  It almost doesn't matter what they are really about, and he always adds too much drama and the whole "can never be happy, must be broody" element is strong, but beyond that, the goods outweigh the bads for me by far.

Loved this response.

I rewatched it recently for the first time in ages, and I still thought it was pretty damn good at what it does.
