Is Qtan a respectable vendor?
« on: Wed, 07 August 2013, 18:27:31 »
Well I'm really bummed out.

I ordered a set of these about 3 weeks ago as a surprise for my girlfriend (she just got her first mechanical keyboard):

After 3 weeks of waiting for them to get here from China, and barely managing to keep it a secret from her, I checked the tracking # this morning and hallelujah! The package has been delivered!! I am more excited for this set than anything I've bought for myself.

I race home from work, check the mail, open the package........ AND THEY SENT THE WRONG GODDAMN CAPS!!!!!

Instead of the rainbow set I was sent these:

Does anyone here have experience ordering from QTan's store at http://www.vendio.com/stores/E-sports-Gaming-equipments ?? Is he a legitimate vendor who I can expect to make this right?

I've already emailed him explaining the issue, but I have this paranoid hunch that this guy doesn't speak any english.

Yes

Enhance your calm. He will take care of it for you. Try getting in touch with him through his vendor forum.

Ok, I feel much better knowing he has a presence here on GH.

I actually checked the vendor forums but I was looking for a subforum with "QTang" in the name, didn't think to look under the name "Elite e-sports gaming equipment"

Thanks, you have successfully enhanced my calm.

I had no problems with him - and a quick response when I posted in his vendor forum on GH.

You can try emailing him (via his web site), posting in his GH vendor forum, or sending him a PM.

He is usually quick to rectify mistakes like this.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Had a similar problem with Qtan, ordered a white keycool with pbt caps and received a black one with abs caps (gift for my gf also).
I just sent him a mail about the problem and we came to a solution very quickly.

So to sum it up, qtan is a very respectable vendor and I would order from him again despite the one problem I had from the three times I have ordered from him.

I appreciate you all easing my paranoia. Qtan emailed me back this morning informing me that the correct caps have been sent out.

In hindsight I should have waited at least a day for him to respond before creating this thread but I was a little panicked at the prospect of him not speaking english.

Also I think I just needed to vent. Couldn't vent to my girlfriend because it's her surprise gift and nobody else I know would comprehend why I'm excited about keycaps in the first place.

I'd be another person to vouch for Qtan as being a professional vendor with good communication — he even took time to answer my emails while he was supposed to be on vacation. My experience with him has been very positive. Hope your girlfriend enjoys the gift. : )

Of course the big question is: do you have to send the wrong set back?

Yeah, I do.

I don't mind sending it back but I have been wondering how, or if, I will be compensated for the shipping costs.

That is fair enough.  Would have been a nice get anyway.

Maybe ask him about shipping cost?

He's a good chap.  You provided the photo of the actual items and he will know it was his mistake.  The shipping cost will be his burden but he may also let you keep it as it's extra money out of his pocket he can not afford.

Cheaper to send out your item that you paid for as soon as possible.  Please remember that Qtan gets hundreds of orders per week for every type of item under the 'Keyboard' Sun.  And like all normal human beings he's bound to make an innocent mistake due to the huge patronage for his service.  He operates his business by himself hence the great pressure that is placed upon him to deliver everyone's purchased item.

Just give him time to respond, because he will fix up everything to your satisfaction.  He is only a small handful of sellers that I trust 100% to rectify any problems if they should arise.

Just like on eBay, sometimes sellers fails to meet expectations.
That's when you take a deep breath and try to work this out.

Trust me i've had many stories with chinese non-english speaker trying to fix stuff. It's probably because they are a team and someone in the crew ****ed up at some point and entered a wrong number or a wrong name. Or maybe even you recieved somebody elses package.

Well my lighting is pretty crappy but here's a photo of it.

All I have is a phone cam but I'll try and get a picture of it under better lighting later.

Edit: My girlfriend loves these caps, she's been gushing about them all day.

He sold me dud zinc key caps twice...v1 and v2.

Coating came off in a week and both were far too loose for either of my keyboards' switches.

His fault? Maybe. I never asked for a return or refund though.

Otherwise he's been a fine seller.

Not necessarily speaking out in his defence, however I understand that metal key caps are difficult to get to fit properly at the best of times.  Might just have been bad luck twice in a row.
