What keyboards use 6-unit spacebar?
« on: Tue, 24 September 2013, 08:17:15 »
I've got a bunch of 6-unit spacebars that I stupidly purchased for my keycap flocking experiment? (see my signature for the link) -- does anyone know which keyboards make use of a 6-unit spacebar from SP? Here's a picture of the bottom of the spacebar:

The G81-7000 does. I bought caps from that keyboard for my Epsilon and it has a 6x spacebar.

BUT, it's not the same.  They are 6x space bars (Some Cherry G80 also have them) but they don't have the same stem configuration as SP's space bars.  The Cherry has offcenter stem and SP are center stem.

Deskthority wiki is the best resource: http://deskthority.net/wiki/Space_bar

Yeah, I saw Deskthority's article on the 6-unit -- seems like very few 'boards use them.

I wish they were more common.  More buttons on the bottom row is a good thing.  I like the 87u's 1.5,1,1.5,6,1.5,1,1,1.5 row

Me too!

Thanks everyone for the information.

I've got some extra 6-units that I'm hoping to flock. I figure if no one could ever use them, what would be the point?

I'm not sure if the stem spacing on those will work with iOne stuff or not, but majority iOne OEM stuff (Razer, Max, Tessoro, CM Pro, Adesso, Monoprice, Qpad, Qtronix, etc.) has a 6. The only thing I know for sure that uses SP 6 unit with that stem spacing is the TG3/Deck BL82.

Just a touch off topic but can anyone confirm if the stabilizer spacing listed the the 9.75u space bar on that deskthority link matches the the ones from the 9.75u or the 10 space bar from sp?

Edit   I would assume that they are the same.  After a bit more digging it appears that so made the caps for the keyboard it came off of in the first place.

Another question -- does anyone know if the SP universal spacebars (6.25) are any different from the spacebars sold at EliteKeyboards? Are they basically the same?
