INTERNET EXPLORER 9
« on: Tue, 17 September 2013, 18:58:26 »
Just using it at work today, and it SUCKS! Constantly freezes up and crashes. And they got rid of all the buttons. I was never happier to go on good ol' Internet Explorer 6 when I got home today!

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

This thread is ridiculous :p

Btw isn't IE 10 the latest?  I'm not sure why anyone would bother with 9.

I use Chrome, but I've read a lot of articles where IE 10 won out over the other major players, including security (for now).

There is no logic behind using outdated technology when modern technology is made readily available. Spock would be disappointed in your lack of logic...

I wonder what version of Internet Explorer they would use in the 23rd century?

Now that's funny! Especially since they show somebody trying to end Firefox in Windows and then they show the Windows 3.1 blue screen. Only problem is that there are no 16-bit versions of Firefox.

And notice that there's no column for Macs on that chart. You know why? Because they suck!

They are scared to move to Vista, 7 or 8, and in the case of Vista and 8, I can't blame them. Both are disasters.

A calm yet very intelligent retort as to why certain software is so popular outside US borders of control and influence.  I remembered traveling through Shenyang, Tangshan and Beijing and literally saw hundreds of XP installed internet cafes.  Nice to see it so popular there and I really can't see it ever being thrown away to replace it with something that the NSA can easily spy and record your every key stroke, like it does with all current OS's released by Microsoft.

I'm not naive especially now when it comes to controlling your own information but it stands to reason why the so-called "latest software" being distributed globally, isn't being taken up by billions of citizens in other countries.  Maybe they already knew the truth long before Snowden ever released the info publicly.
