I've just checked New Arrival section from Banggood.com and found out they are selling Mental Zinc Alloy Embossment R4 Personality Keycaps for Cherry MX. They look awesome and I'm gonna order them now.

why does it look like the graphics are cheaply glued on?
is that what they mean by embossment?

Also interesting that more than 8 keycaps are shown on the page. eg. The Zerg keycap isn't in the group shot but it shown in a later picture.
Is it a gamble as to which keycaps you get?

I think they look very good.. for me I don't care if they are glued on, they still look pretty awesome.

yea, they are over $5 a piece (or $5 a piece and $3 for shipping if you do the math and counter the 'free shipping')

I agree, I still think they look cool, but wanted to put up my views that they probably aren't full engraved pieces.

there are laser etched ones on ebay for $4 sold individually but I didn't find these
I did find a set of 37 blank zincs for ~$75

These are all over Chinese sites... I'm 99% Feng/MKC have them too, in higher quality and aluminum. In fact they're the exact same design.

You're dead-on with that last link - the key is having LED shine. I'm keeping an eye on the auction, but given how recent auctions have gone, I have a feeling there will be fierce competition for this one. I'm just putting out feelers for a plan B if the auction option doesn't come together.

Well, as far as I know, caps such as that one didn't come with the backlight compatibility. Thus, if that is a plus for you, you should really consider the price, because it's a bit of a rarity, I would imagine.

I figured the holes were a post-production addition, and one I could do myself. Just looking for the 3D version of the key now - titanium is a bonus, but aluminum would work just fine.

I think you're probably right, price will be king. I'll be happy just to find one, at any price!
