HHKB layout issues
« on: Fri, 30 January 2015, 07:38:57 »
Hey I just got a HHKB Pro finally after using a lite which I got pretty used to.  There are a couple problems thought, my dip switches don't seem to be working.

What I would like is for left alt and the diamond key to switch,  and for the *old* alt key to be fn.  I'm not sure if this is possible either but I would like my right diamond key to be the windows key so it looks like this:

                                       fn    alt                                      Space                                           windows    alt

no matter which combination of dipswitches I throw and how many times I restart it doesn't want to cooperate.

Maybe someone around here can help me out?

Switch nr 4 (on) will change left diamond key to FN
then switch nr 5 (on) will change diamond keys to alt
I use similar what you trying to achieve.
1,3,4,5 on - so Lite mode on, Delete as BS etc
Remember to unplug keyb every time you make changes
Otherwise it can be firmware/hardware issue or you can try another operating system...

Not sure if it will help but when changing dip switches you want to unplug the board, change the dip switch, then plug it back in.

It's often the little things that are overlooked ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
