Where to buy MX Clears
« on: Thu, 05 March 2015, 20:07:36 »
I was looking at getting a QFR and replacing the switches with ergo clears, but I'm having trouble finding where to buy 87 clear switches. Any tips?

Mechanicalkeyboards.com should have heaps in stock.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I just checked mechanicalkeyboards.com and it says that they're out of stock unless you buy them in sets of 5, which gets kinda pricy.

Yeah I just checked again, the sets of five are PCB mount but everything else is out of stock

Also would I need pcb or plate mounted switches for a QFR?

You can try Mouser or Digikey. It's going to be expensive, be warned.

Hm those are a lot pricier. Does anyone have any estimates as to how often mechanicalkeyboards.com restocks typically?

WASD has them in stock at a better price than any of the other links. mechanicalkeyboards.com would still be cheaper though, so I contacted them asking when they plan on restocking.

If you are doing ergo clears just buy tactile grays since your swapping springs anyway.

I think 7bit sells them, too.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.
