Squeaky Spring
« on: Wed, 11 December 2019, 01:24:11 »
I build a keyboard with zealios v2 and after 2 days one of my keys started making this annoying squeaking sound that I am pretty sure is coming from the springs. Does anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it?
The sound file with a comparison to a regular key is attached.

Lubing the spring should fix it. If not, you can always replace it with a spring from a key you don't really use.

Always lube your springs, even if you don't lube the rest of the switch!

You can use Victorinox oil or a high-viscosity silicone oil. Put all the springs in a plastic container with some oil and shake until evenly coated. If springs are stuck together, make sure to twist them apart and not pull, to avoid damaging them.

I pulled a spring apart to see how long it could go, and it was as long as my index finger  :thumb:
