Gaming on Flexible Gasket Mount Keyboards?

Heavy gAmEr here (mobas, fps). Really intrigued by the gasket mount typing experience but have never tried it in person. From what I understand, the whole topography of the board changes when you hold down a key (i.e holding w key in fps games). When this happens does it then feel weird to reach for nearby keys that are now depressed and somewhat angled (i.e holding w key and then reaching for the r key which is now somewhat angled and at a different verticality (?)). Would also love to hear if there are any other noteworthy differences in gaming on a gasket mount board vs a stiffer board.

Gasket mount just isolates the PCB slightly from the case, it doesn't mean that the entire PCB turns into some kind of stretchy trampoline material. The keyboard surface isn't going to drastically change shape.

while gaming, you usually bottom out the keys, gasket mount will soften the bottom out so it's actually good for your fingers

Does not really make a difference. The overall typing experience is better but typing and gaming are very different things. In gaming, you are usually pressing harder than you do while typing, so the flex on the keyboard (assuming you're using gasket mount) will be more. But the actual flex on the keyboard does not affect my gaming.

I don't have gasket mount, but I do have a soft plastic plate here that I'm typing on, and it is more flexible than a steel plated Pingmaster for sure. It does not affect my gaming experience. Switch and plate choice will make a lot more difference (while gaming at least) than the mount of the keyboard.

There's pretty much no way to make it consistent across the whole board, it will also tear up the usb connector and pcb over time. The name even tells you what it is, it's a gasket, does the water pump on your car wobble, how about the cylinder heads? Gaskets seal or isolate two mated surfaces, they are not there to act as suspension.


There are people trying to make it work, and sure, they may even get a slightly softer feel but it's bad for the keyboard and inconsistent at best. Change feel with your switches, not the case.

Or just use low durometer o-rings for $5 instead of spending $400+shipping on a case.
