this looks pretty nice, the deskmat in the first render should really be an option though. it looks far cooler than the others. personaly id like text and icon mods. i dont mind about the numpad either way.

We had a dozen of deskmats ideas, they arent set in stone yet :)

this is pretty lit, killer renders too.

2 main things

1. numpad avail?

2. are any of these colors stock, or is it fully custom? i like the tones of the alphas/mods a lot.

Can't stop thinking about GMK Minimal 2.

I knew I had seen this colorway from somewhere recent. Yea it reminds me a lot of GMK Minimal 2. Is it same colors but different legends?

Thanks for the kind words ! I apprecieate it.

1. Comming from you requesting numpad make sense ahah. As I said before I really don't want to do it, but if people keep asking for it, I guess I may change my mind.

2. white is WS1, black is CR, the rest is full custom (you can see the color codes at the end of the first post).

Also thanks everyone for the kind words, I'm still "brainstorming" to see what I'm keeping/doing.

Love the concept and the "desko" inspiration.

My only suggestion, and really my main gripe with the set is the arrow cluster which takes away from the desko feel.

I would suggest the following:
 - Provide only green and blue arrow up
 - Provide all 3 colors for arrow down

This gives you a bit more color pop on the arrow cluster, currently all red bottom row seems too monochromatic and people can play around with the combo and still keep the desko feel?

GMK Paperwork vibes. My only suggestion is to add a numpad kit. Looks nice. I love the deskmats and I want them.

kinda weird to have 7u colored spacebars in the hhkb kit and the spacebars kit

i stand by my position that ¥ should be on pipe

If R3 Control users really want a stepped key, they can use stepped ⇩. In fact, some sets (e.g. GMK Rouge) chose to not include R3 Control at all because the ⇩ is generic-looking enough that it can be used for Control.

First sentence I agree with, but second I'd suggest against. Considering a lot of this kit panders to the HHKB keyboard influence and layout, not having a R3 Control would just seem odd and unnecessary.

No worries, the second sentence wasn't part of the suggestion, I was just using that example to further my point about stepped Control not being necessary. I agree that regular R3 1.75u Control should definitely be in this set.

However, one thing that may be worth considering when it comes to this key, is changing the Control text to a icon (e.g. like GMK Red Devils). It fits in a bit better aesthetically with the surrounding icon mods. See below for an example:

Show Image

2) Can't argue with that :) In that case, consider including a separate R4 1.25u Fn key. Although, I wouldn't say that it's a must; the other suggestions I had are more important.

I'd support a 1.25u FN key; my FC750R actually has Alt/Fn/Menu/Ctrl on the right side of the spacebar, so I'm okay with both Menu and FN :p

However, and somewhat ironically, in the render of the dark gray U80, it appears a 1.25u FN key already exists. At this point that seems like an oversight, but hopefully that was a Freudian Slip.

That's a good point, some TKLs do indeed use both Menu + Fn instead of Super + Fn/Menu. A few off the top of my head are: Drop CTRL and ENTR, Leopold FC750R, GMMK ТKL, Durgod K320. And I guess some people may prefer to have it this way on their customs, but I'm not sure how common that is.

I think the bigger argument in favor of also having Fn as an option is that, on its own, it trumps Menu in terms of popularity across a wide variety of boards and layouts (all the way from 40s up to full-size).

Agreed on all points.

---

On the topic of numpads, consider this chart konstantin posted above. Looking at those numbers, you see the top 3 most popular layouts (that do not have/utilize numpads) above full-size outnumber full-size layouts at a combined 1,237 to 223; can bump that number up by 18 if you include 1800 and 96% layouts. Now I'm not personally aware of where that data came from, and would note how this probably only reveals super high-level trends in the community.

If leaving numpad keys off the base kit not only follows the designer's vision but also lowers the cost, then I certainly support it. An alternative could be adding a separate kit for those keys, but again that's up to the designer.

Hi there,

First I want to thank all of you for your feedback, this was really important to make such decisions for the future of the set, here are the new changes :

Yes I made a very simple numpad kit, a separate one, I hope you guys are now happy with that :thumb:

For the latin kit I added an extra tab and enter so you can fit 2 keyboards with base + latin

For the base kit, I added R3 Pg R4 PgDn. Didn't do more modification to it, since imho it's perfect like that

I hope that now the set fits your needs and that you're happy about the changes, and if not, please tell me why  ;D

Maybe this is not important at all, but..
Numpad kit's naming should be uniform like others.

Namu paddo kitto or something.

Very nice changes!

You may also want to consider moving the R1 1u Pg Dn, End keys from base to the numpad kit. There are no drawbacks to doing this, as these keys are only used on boards that also use numpads (1800, CP, 96-key layouts). In fact, if you take a closer look, you'll see that most sets that offer split numpad kits place these keys in the numpad kits. Some recent examples are: GMK Minimal R2, GMK Red Devils, EPBT Skadi, SA Dualshot.

Edit: Oh, and don't forget the sublegend for the -_ほー key; I believe I've already mentioned that somewhere ;)

Kits are fixed.

Will collab with artisan makers and cable makers

Answers to older comments :

1) Green dosent match wavez because Wavez R2 will run this year  :thumb:
2) Red HHKB control is something I hesitated but Im not so sure considering this is an icon mod keycap sets, and adding a control text key won’t be that good looking.
