I really don't understand the trend of leaving out mod colored pipe and tilde in new sets.
Why don't leave the full basekits alone instead of splitting everything up?
For me, personally, these are essential keys and should not be left out. And then on the other hand adding 6(!) R3 1.75us.
I understand the concept of cutting kits down (which I don't like), but leaving out these keys in a step in the wrong direction for me.

I wouldn't personally use a text bottom row on HHKB layout, but I also find it alarming that there is no mod colored tilde key. Love that there is row 5 though, GG  :thumb:

Gotta say I disagree with the removal of mod-coloured tilde (both here, and as a trend), I also think a purple esc is a must. I will be surprised if I see any of the changes people are asking for actually be implemented though. Seems to be that most current/recent ICs are less open to modification than one would hope.

Before modern dolch light I woulda killed for this set, now I'm unsure. R5 lookin' nice though!

Also, kinda funny that this came out at the same time as "muted retro" at originative

Oh hell yes, this is going to be best set of 2022. Why not combine both accents kits into one? I'd even go so far as to say include them in the base like the OG set, but I'd defer to others if they don't want that. Just a hunch that this is going to be an absolutely massive selling set so combining both accents into one or accents into base will be considerable savings for consumers.

Would be down for deskmats as well that feature the accent colors.

I'll also throw in a vote for text + icon mods, plus accented function keys

Edit: would also love to see a special Krelbit box like you did for Alter  ;D That made that set so much more special compared to GMK's new trash packing

Thumbs up for the Norde Kit, very happy to see it becoming somewhat standard for for bigger high-profile runs.

That being said, seeing how quickly design trends catch on in this community, the descision to remove mod colored pipe deserves pushback.
That key has been a no brainer to include in base kits for quite a long time, and every single GMK set I personally own has it.
The reasoning to include it for color-symetrical mods on an ANSI-layout holds a lot of water, for some people more than the reasoning behind other keys, such as
second B without spacebars, a second homing-5 for numpad or F13.
If including keys with a low percentage of usage is a concern due to affordability or whatever reason, consider also trimming down some of the half-dozen capslock options offered in this iteration.

+1 expanded accent kit, including F5-F8 and Insert. I believe this would be a significant improvement over the original set.
+1 mod colored tilde and pipe because, well, why would you not include these? Dumb trend. They should only cost another $2-3 and make for a nice symmetrical look on 60% boards.

Sad to see no mod color tilde and pipe keys.  Thought it was an oversight at first but it apparently was a deliberate decision, which baffles me.  Those keys are used by a lot of people.

Honestly the kitting is a bit weird all around.

Single-line Pg Up, Pg Dn, Num please. The two-line versions look really out of place and are inconsistent with the rest of the legends in the set (e.g. Scroll, which isn't fully “spelled out” either).

Can we also please drop some of the R3 1.75u keys? Consider using generic icon legends. The extra keys could be put to better use by adding 1.5u Super and a second 1u Alt to the kit for Mac and OG HHKB bottom row users.
EDIT: It would be cool if R3 1.75u Control was an icon, so it wouldn't look out of place between the Tab and Shift icons.
Something like this (+1).

Also, thanks for including R3 PgUp, R4 PgDn in base.


Edit: The spacebars kit could also use 1.25c and 1c spacekeys, which would benefit the following common setups:
  • Alice left space: 2.25–1 or 2–1.25;
  • standard split 6.25u space: 2.75–1.25–2.25 or 2.25–1.25–2.75;
  • standard split 7u space: 3–1–3.
A lot of users dislike being forced to use a mod-colored key in the middle of their split spacekeys, as it messes with the aesthetics.


Edit2: A R5 1u Fn key should be added to the R5 kit. A lot of boards in the 60%, 65%, 75%, 1800/CP, 96-key families put 1u Fn on the bottom row, so the R4 key from the base kit can't be used for this purpose if you want to deck your board out with that sweet, sweet R5.

We are giving the kits some more review at this time.

I will still die on the hill of no mod colored tilde and pipe. The set will remain as an icon mods set at this time.

New kitting will arrive in some time. Thank you for your inputs, some of them have even been taken into account.
