sounded interesting at first but then i saw 1.2mm pcb plateless gasket mount flex cuts and foam. its just yet another very flexy board. a pass for me
We are taking numbers on the flex cut (Y/N) in the IC form, feel free to fill it out
If you're making this for beginners, please consider a hotswap ISO option. It'll make this more attractive to a wider audience of European hobbyists and making ISO more accessible's always a good thing.
Please feel free to not have flex cuts. That would be 100% fine.
My chief concern reading your IC here is the proposed $150USD price point. How confident are you in that? It's quite unconventional with the separate side pieces that'll need to be machined and I assume mounted in a relatively secure manner. How confident are you you can hit $150 with all of the machinings this will likely require?
Thank you, we are also taking feedback on if ISO option needs to be added to the production PCB, feel free to leave your opinion in the IC form.
Regards to the side pieces mounting, there are two screws per piece to secure it to the bottom case, so far prototypes have shown it is not going anywhere with everyday use.
In terms of quality per price I'm very confident that Knife Lab has the capability and know-how to make a full production run happen at prototype standard (IMO very good). I'll let the reviewer/streamer do the talking over fit and finish.
To maintain this price we did have to make a few design considerations, no crazy curves, monster weights / expensive materials, or hard-to-machine edges while trying to make it not a TOFU like. The result of all that effort means RRP $150
