Hello!
Here today to present to you a small, simple, and elegant 60% keyboard, called Petals.
Petals is a top mount keyboard, that was designed and put together for the purpose of providing a nice custom.
A keyboard that is not complex to build, but also one that looks good. Sleek curves. Top mount perfection
With universal PCB compatibility, you choose your kit and how to build it.
Specs & Components:
- Two piece construction
- 6063 Alu case
- 7 degree
- 18.7mm Front height
- Brass weight with Petals logo / icon
- PC full plate with stock kit (considering other materials as addons)
- Tops are WK (winkey) and WKL (winkeyless), no HHKB to limit SKU's
- Colors Dark Blue, Green, Grey, Purple, and Pink
Pricing will be around
$400 USD for stock kit (top, bottom, weight, plate & solder pcb), before addons and shipping. Two rounds of prototypes were produced, totaling around 10sh units +/-
Round one was to test colors (grey, green, pink), and make any needed adjustments, was completed last year. Round two was to finalize the teeny tiny adjustments made to the alignment tabs, weight, and other tiny details. We also wanted to test dark blue and purple colors, which was completed this year. Took a bit to be able to pay for another round of protos, a few of the protos have been sold already, to help me re-coup some of my cost and investment
Petals was designed with a left port USB, to
accommodate using any 60% universal PCB. We did not want to lock you in to a proprietary PCB or lock you in to a PCB with your purchase; Leaving you with the choice of using your own, tested with AN-C hotswap and solder, Wilba, and the PCB's we are offering. Kits and options will be with solder PCB, hotswap PCB, and no PCB
GB has been live for a couple weeks now, vendor links below. GB thread has been waiting for approval for quite a while now too.
Vendors

The following are some photos of the prototypes.
Photos are my own, from my builds. My editing. All taken in natural light, at different times, during different weather and lighting conditions, to allow for color variance and play.
Lighting is not consistent or the same from day to day
Hopefully I have been able to translate and appropriately display and show the colors as they appear
There will always be a difference between what you see on screen and what you receive in hand
Please keep that in mind. Not all our screens are balanced the same, not all show the same hues, tints, shades, etc. Will be taking and posting more photos
Okay enough with the words and the typing.
Mr. Alex Otos did a build stream of Petals, with a typing test towards the end.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1749942279?filter=archives&sort=timePaul and myself did a stream from Simon's last year along with Alessio. If you know where to find it..., I will not link it, stream was a disaster, and is definitely not rated PG.
Thanks for reading and looking, hope we can get your support for the GB <3
