Background Introduction

Hello everyone, the Strawberry Cheesecake Tactile switch is back for another round. This time, several improvements were implemented to provide a better typing experience for everyone.

Switch Information

Not just keyboard, but I also share a great passion for food. My favourite dessert was Strawberry Cheesecake. Also, as a tactile fan, I love the Holy Panda. However, my fingers are weak and I can't type on them for long.

Hence, the strawberry Cheesecake tactile switch is the sweet child born from the love for both Cheesecake and Holy Panda. It is nothing fancy or extraordinary. It is just me trying to improve the old recipe to make it better suited to myself.

Switch specification:

Top Housing: POK. Patone 11-0510 TPG
Bottom Housing: POK. Pantone 4026C
Stem: LY. Pantone 19-1763 TPG
Spring:Single-stage 22mm KOS 60g.
Factory lube: Yes. A thin layer of factory lubrication will be applied to the stem rails, housing sliders, and stem legs. Dry powder lubrication for the springs.
Travel distance: 3.6mm
Manufacturer: BSUN
Pricing: tentatively 0.45usd/switch (in-stock pricing)

Force Graph

Difference compared to R1

We used a different mould compared to R1. This leads to quite a few improvements for the switches in overall.

- First, the fitment issue were rectified so the switches wont be too tight on some plates and boards.



- Secondly, less leaf ping, which results in cleaner sounds

- Thirdly, a different type of spring is used to reduce spring noise

- Lastly, amount of lubrication was adjusted as I notice an uneven (and inconsistent) amount of lubrication on the housing and rails.

I recycled the R1 photos since R2 will be using the same colours and pretty much will look the same as R2

There is pretty much no pre-travel for my switch. So you will go straight to the prominent, round bump. Then it will be a little bit of post-travel and bottom out (due to longer pole)

Minor update:
- Prototypes arrived at all vendors. They are currently testing it (Positive reviews from vendors who have tested it).
- We will likely go with a very short pre-order (probably 2 weeks) and finalize the quantity with BSUN.
- Prototypes are on the way to some content creators so expect content to go live in a couple of weeks.

Nice! A more clacky version of this switch would be great. Hopefully the bottom housing tolerances have been addressed, because my only gripe with R1 was that the larger bottom housings made the unusable is some of my plates. If this has been addressed on this run then I will definitely be picking of a few hundred.

R2 IC is live. YES, I recycled the R1 IC since I am lazy to make a new one.

TLDR:
- Spec is confirmed
- A new sound test is made (more to come)
- Some improvements compared to R1 (please check out the IC for full details).

How's BSUN in terms of switch leg thickness? Will these be good candidates for plateless builds (i.e. don't fall out when you turn the pcb over)?

They are decent for me in one of my plateless builds. At least they work fine for me, but my PCB was relatively new, and the sockets aren't loosening up yet. I do not recommend using these with hotswap plateless and half plate tbh
