High end 60% recommendations
« on: Thu, 15 August 2024, 20:14:38 »
Hi! I am looking for some high end 60/65% keyboards. I am coming from a tata80 tkl and I am looking for something a little smaller. What are some of the "endgame" (or just higher end) 60/65% keyboards? I am thinking of roughly the $500 range (ideally on sale).
Thank you for your advice!

I don't know about endgame level, but if you are looking for an in stock high end 60% tray mount keyboard kit I recommend the Fjell from mekanisk.com

Simple to build. Standard tray mount easy to find extra pcbs for it. And sounds great with foam.

The infamous taeha Fjell:

thanks for the suggestions! i think i want to go for a keyboard that I will (hopefully) not be tempted to try to buy another for a while. that's my only issue with the fjell - I feel like i'll always be looking over at greener pastures if I get it.

could you give some more specific info on the bliss and mini lena? i'm not getting any results from a google search

The ones that are really high end are rarely sold in stock. You could wait for extras of the Horangi60, it seems really nice.

Hard to find high end keyboard in stock since most keyboard vendors are too small to have expensive stock just sitting on their shelves, so most stuff is sold in group buys so vendors don't order more than they have to.

Here's a list of vendors where you can buy keyboards. I imagine you'll be able to filter by keyboard kits and in-stock at most of them. See if they have anything you like. You can also check out the aftermarket like r/mechmarket on Reddit or Discord servers with trading channels for used keyboards that are ready to ship out.

If you're willing to wait, check out the Interest check and Group buy sections here on Geekhack and you'll see lots of live and upcoming keyboard projects. Really hard to recommend a keyboard to someone, especially an "endgame," if we don't know anything about your needs, preferences and desires.
