Design

OE-93 is the first product in NE Key Studio's Retro Series. Inspired by IBM's classic MODEL F AT, its layout design incorporates the essence of IBM, combined with the designer's unique insights and modern user needs. After market research and analysis of user habits, the designer shifted the central input area to a 64-key layout on the left side.



The numeric keypad remains intact


The F-area on the left side of the keyboard is separated in the middle to reduce accidental presses. The independent four-key column provides more possibilities for custom shortcut keys.


The designer retained the nostalgic large forehead design of vintage keyboards and added stripe elements on the sides and center. In the middle, six multimedia shortcut keys are placed, which can be customized for different functions. This preserves the retro charm while seamlessly integrating modern elements, achieving a perfect blend of tradition and modernity.


The top-left metal nameplate uses magnetic attachment, allowing it to be easily lifted with a gentle press, and hides a compartment inside for storing the 2.4G receiver.


The keyboard features a sandwich-style design. The designer selected a vibrant color for the mid-frame that contrasts with the cool tones of the top and bottom case, adding depth to the overall look.
