TGR Jane V2 ME Custom Top Case
« on: Fri, 20 February 2026, 01:49:03 »
I currently have an Jane V2 ME, which only comes in F13. Recently I have been wanting this in an F12 layout. Buying an F12 Jane, if someone is actually willing to sell, is very expensive. I am considering converting my current board to an F12 top case, by having one custom made. There are several CNC manufacturers who can achieve this. Whatever happens, this path is most likely cheaper than buying a legitimate F12 Jane.

I am curious if anyone in this hobby has tried fabricating custom CNC parts for their keyboards cases in particular. Also. I am not really sure if this is accepted or frowned upon in the keyboard hobby. Thank you!

the tgr v3 rubrehose is f13 and came with a blocker thing. maybe you could make a blocker instead of a full top case? or maybe ask to buy the blocker from someone.

I understand, however an extreme pedantic like me would prefer the typical spacing of the F12 F row

Honestly, if you’re that picky about the spacing (no judgment, this hobby does that to all of us  :D), then a custom CNC top case can work—but it’s not as straightforward as it sounds.

Biggest things to watch out for:

Tolerances (plate alignment, screw points, gasket fit if applicable)
Anodizing/color matching to the original bottom case
Potential impact on resale value (since it’s no longer “original”)

I’ve seen a few people do custom parts successfully, but it usually takes a couple iterations to get it right, so cost can creep up.

From a “community” standpoint, it’s not really frowned upon. It’s more like a personal mod. Purists might not love it, but if it’s for your own use, go for it.                                                                                                     free online games
