CoolPenguin1's Keyboard Documentation
« on: Mon, 18 May 2026, 21:14:05 »
I haven't been too active on geekhack so I'll give a brief introduction:
I joined the keyboard hobby in late 2021 and quickly went down the vintage keyboard rabbit hole.
Extensive documentation was lacking on some topics I'm interested in so I've done a couple of projects to compile information over the years and mostly just shared them over discord.
I figured it's about time I post about them all somewhere public facing, so here it is.

Active Projects

AT Keyboard Database
AT is my favorite layout so I'm trying to collect as much information as I can about it. You can see the results in the sheet ;D

Keyboard Converter Spreadsheet
Needs to be updated with a couple of MMcM's recent firmwares and some listings for pre-assembled converters but is otherwise complete. I'll get around to doing that eventually.

KBI wiki pages
Given the DT wiki is dead I've written some pages for the KBI wiki to help make it a real replacement for the DT one.
I've been busy these last couple of weeks as of writing so I haven't kept up with it but I'll be getting back to it soon!

Deprecated Projects

Fujitsu Keyboard Database
Daniel Beardsmore started a Fujitsu keyboard P/N database on his website Telcontar but it wasn't super extensive.
I tried to start a more comprehensive one and got good results for a whole but later got burned out and lost interest.
The problem was while I love Fujitsu's stuff, I wasn't passionate about it like I am for AT keyboards so I didn't keep up with it long term.
If anyone wants to take it over let me know as I'm more than willing to hand over the torch.

That is it for now but I plan on doing more soon ;)

Very nice. Love the AT database. I can appreciate this being shared here as it's always possible it could be buried or lost in a Discord server.

Hurray for info preservation
