Hey, can anyone recommend a good website for buying sunglasses? I don't want to get ripped off paying lots of cash for fakies. I was looking for a pair of Prada SPS54I. If you buy from amazon do you have less chance of getting conterfeit stuff?

I've bought from a store, though, not online.

Since a glitch in the site made a double post, I might as well recommend you Maui Jim's Kahuna sunglasses - polarized glass.

word of caution about amazon, if you buy directly from amazon your safe, HOWEVER if you buy from a third party in amazon... well that's the chance you take. You can tell if it's a third party by looking right at the add to cart (all the way on the right hand side) and if it says "fulfilled by/shipped by/sold by" it's a third party. (basically no different than someone or some company selling directly via amazon, sorta like directly sellng thru ebay).

Even third party sellers through Amazon tend to be quite reliable, and you can look at their ratings/reviews.  I've never once had a single problem buying through Amazon, but I tend to gravitate towards things that have Prime shipping available.

Do you wear glasses/contacts by chance?  If you do, you might be interested in looking into getting some prescription sunglasses.  I've been using them for a while now and I couldn't be happier; it really is a pleasant thing to be able to use sunglasses without needing to use contacts or have stuff be blurry.

This.  I just got a pair of Maui Jim Sport prescription sunglasses and couldn't be happier.  I will echo NimbleRabit's sentiment on Rx sunglasses. I have an astigmatism, and toric contacts suck, so I wear glasses all the time now.  I bought some Rx Oakley's a few years ago and loved them since I could get rid of the contacts altogether.

Put your onions in the freezer until they get cold (not frozen).  Cold onions don't cause tearing.

I sorta like the eye pain I get from cutting onions.  It makes me feel like a cook or something.  Okay, I'm strange, but yeah . . . off topic.

Funny, I could (and was going to) say the same thing.  I have a pair of Oakley Titanium Square Wires that I absolutely love.  And I still have the original non-Rx lenses, should I ever decide to try contacts again (doubtful) or have the laser surgery done.

FYI, for those that this may apply to: we were able to use a Flex account to get these tax free, since they were Rx.

Seconded.  I always throw money into my FSA every year just for glasses.  I was able to get my sunglasses covered by my FSA as well.

Hmm, have to take picture of mine, got them relatively cheap just 20€ with other pair. Still, no brand, but atleast they got powers and quite large ones..
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...

I wish my work had a FSA... Oh the wonderful world of not-for-profits.

Wear these so bully's can easily identify you.

http://www.shuron.com/escapades.htm

Seriously though, I own the non-sunglass version of those. They're made in the US, if you're one of those people that care. Likewise, they'll actually willingly send you 3-4 trial pairs to determine your correct size and you simply return the ones that don't fit.

My alltime Favorite glasses are the first generation of the Oakley E-Wire. They are from 1993 if i remember correctly, some of the first glasses that were completely designed on a computer and were available in titanium.
I really like these glasses, and they look very cool, when you think about how old they are.

Here's a picture i searched with google:

Hehehehehe, oh damn, it ain't that bad ;). I took a picture besides a pair of modern day oakleys. The Shape is way more "elliptical".

The left one i pick, if i need a more timeless look for some reasons, but if i can choose between the two, i always pick the old e-wire (right). I really dig that look; oh yeah and of course, i have a spare pair of the e-wires, if something happens with em ;).

Most glasses typically look like the pair on the left.
I smell an ISO layout.

Not here in germany, i see here more lets say "Dior/D&G like" sunglasses, than those classic looking glasses.

Oh yeah, if you smell an iso layout, then qwertz/german is the new iso! :high5:

I would also recommend Sunglass Hut or Soleis or a department store, like Nordstroms. But I think ordering sunglasses online is a little risky. Why don't you go to the mall and find a pair from one of these stores that you can try on and make sure fit your face right?

On a related note, the side rubber things... i learned are called "temple socks" or at least that is what rayban calls them, my fiance lost a "sock" a while ago on raybans 3179, i know the model number cuz i've tried searching for it, these glasses retail for 100bucks or so, give or take, and i could ONLY find replacement socks ordering from the uk for basically 30bucks...

Now it was either order a new pair of the same glasses for 100bucks or order the socks for 30 bucks..., of course she doesn't wear these glasses cuz without the socks she gets irritated and they just gather dust and really likes these model number glasses.

so... 30bucks for temple socks, oh and before putting them on, i put 2 drops of gorilla glue on em of course, this way i'll never have to worry about temple socks and only if she looses or destroys the glasses.

The Maui Jims I tried on looked pretty terrible. Their lenses are wayyy too big.

So I ended up going with a pair of Kaenon Spindles. Best polarized lenses in the biz.

If you need prescription sunglasses, try Zenni optical online. Lots of folks rave about them and they're really inexpensive.
I have bought about 3 pairs from them. The sunglasses I ordered were of no less quality than any pair I've ever purchased locally. And my wife said the sunglasses I wore were manly.
