How bad is this stuff for plastic? I need to remove some sticky stuffs under my AEK II. It seems that there was a sticker underneathe keyboard. I used Goo Gone to remove it. It worked. However, I noticed that Goo Gone smell was similar to something containing petroleum derivatives. I heard that petroleum derivatives could be bad for resin.

I haven't used that stuff in years, but if it is the same thing, then I'm pretty certain it works by using citric acids...  It contains orange oil, but I do not know of that being hardful to plastic.

I know it's the bottom of my keyboard, but some inevitably got on the keycaps after I plugged the keyboard and started to type again. Today I tried to wipe the surface with a wet cloth trying to remove any left over. This thing is a bit oily and I am a bit obsessive.

Goo Gone will remove what it is supposed to remove. It's the smell left that I don't like.

I have an espresso machine too. Only for about 3 months now.  I have yet to clean the internals  but I am not too worried. We have very pure water. What product do you use?

Niiiice, I have the same thermometer for frothing.  stupid battery is soldered in on mine though.

Why didn't you go PID?

OP, by the way, I WOULD keep Goo-gone (and also carbon fiber epoxy resin :D) away from typical computer plastics.  I accidentally gave my macbook an 'alligator skin' finish one time!

I've used Goo Gone on the GPU, CPU, and motherboard of a couple of XBox 360s to clean up old thermal paste and the only thing it did was clean it up REALLY nice in a way that rubbing alcohol could not.  I wouldn't worry about using it on anything metal or plastic, ever.  

I would NOT use it on anything "goo like" that I wanted to preserve.  =-D

I visit Starbucks maybe once or twice a year.  I had (still have) a Breville thermobock espresso machine. I don't use it anymore for two big reasons: time and noise. I wake up at 4:00 am every day to study before going to work. If I try to make an espresso that early, I am sure to wake up my daughter. Moreover, it does take more time to make an espresso and to clean up after.

I met an Italian who swear by this machine. He does make great coffee from this little machine.

I knew the petroleum part was very high. There was no way citrus based products would be as strong on these gooey stuff. I did not take any Chemistry class unfortunately. High school (British system) was Economics, Mathematics and Accounting, General Paper and French for me.

Well...you should not jump to conclusion that rapidly. Just because I came from a British school system did not mean that I am from UK. That's very far from the truth. In fact, I was about a 12-hour flight away from England.

What conclusion would you come up with if I told you that my post-education was from the French system? This time, keep in mind that I was nowhere near France.

It would be a mistake to assume that French is the dominant language in Mauritius, although it is used a lot. We don't have Hula dance, but we do have sega.

I left because there are things I can do in Canada that I could not do there. For example, getting a university degree while studying part-time is not really an option. There's only one university there, and the competition to get in is really really tough.

This was one of my favourite activities while there. It's the most relaxing activity in my opinion.

I had something like Goo Gone (I don't know if it was genuine "Goo Gone" or not) dissolve the case on a Startac I was cleaning up once.  I would certainly worry about using it on plastic, depending on the kind of plastic.  I don't know exactly what the Startac was made from, but that can probably be determined.  It was like the gooey label I was trying to get off was infinite, because the plastic case started going gooey from the solvent.  It took a couple of rubs before I definitively figured out what was going on.

Wait - did he just give away that he's in NYC?  Or was it a carefully crafted slip to make us think he's in NYC.  If Cappucinos are $5, imagine how much cappuccinos must be with that extra 'c'!

There are two Goo Gones - a nasty one and a citrus one.  They're both called goo gone IIRC
