New boards with MX Clears?
« on: Sat, 05 March 2011, 17:25:30 »
Anyone know if I order new:
G80-3000LQCDE-0

What will it be? Don't need an other Brown board. And also would prefer UK-model from german and in ISO. Or is my only option still find something used?
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...

I ordered a G80-3000LQCDE as they are supposed to have clears (they are described as "soft tactile action" whereas browns have "ergonomic tactile action").
The keyboard hasn't arrived yet though, so I can't guarantee it until then.

You could ask Bruce from The Keyboard Company if they have any clears, but I believe they only have specialty keyboards with clears.

*Whoosh*

Ok, I struck my forehead. I'm typing on a G80-3000LQCDE-0 / 02 right now, albeit a beige one!
I bought it second-hand from someone who bought it in 2009-2010 so it is guaranteed to be the "new" model. It does have clears and comes in the german ISO layout.

That G80-3000LQCDE is actually a nicer looking board then the G80-8113 that everyone recommends to people who want clear switches. No extra row of keys along the top, no extra card reader or touchpad and the arrow cluster is where it should be. Why isn't it recommended more? Out of production?

I like the look of it a lot, and I'd but it to try it out if I could find it for sale in the US somewhere...

Good find. Here it is linkified and translated to English.

I do notice that there is no mention of NKRO. If it's only 2-Key, then it could be a disappointment to gamers.

Relatively affordable form germany, 68€ inluding the shipping, as new. Likely going to pick one up. NKRO or not, only option I could find.

No, for Americans it's unobtainium. There have been some rumors about G80-3000s being introduced in the US though.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

Turns out my G80-3000LQCDE-2 was put aside after all! I guess this must be the last one in stock for my retailer, as they confused me as heck when they called me to say the KB was considered EOL.

I seriously hate the quality of Cherry, whole board flexes when I replaced the keys. Just bad compared to Filco or IBM...

After getting bit of getting used to these they are quite nice. I certainly don't bottom them out most of time. I could say they are quite different switch. Have some issues with double sized keys. But as time passes I think I might start liking them more and more. It's like activation needs about same force I use for entire MX Brown. Still, they are bit tiresome.

TL_DR: Very weird switch, don't bottom out most of time.

Just to make clear:

G80-3000LQCDE-0(vintage) and -2(black)

Atleast the black which I now have on my desk is MX "Clear". Will post some photos if I get better camera around again.

Mine came from here:

But any german site should work, my german just is quite bad...

@Ekaros, could you post pictures please?

I'm considering to put my hands on this.
Also, I wanted to confirm whether is it the US ANSI layout or the ISO layout since the pictures for the whites and the black color keyboards are conflicting on the layout even though they have the same model number

@Ekaros, could you post pictures please?

I'm considering to put my hands on this.
Also, I wanted to confirm whether is it the US ANSI layout?

G80-3000LQCDE

It's a German board with the right ISO layout.

Thats  a downer. I must have US ANSI
I was thinking I could save 20USD from the price PCHOME charges after shipping

Does anyone knows other German/Austrian e-tailer ships to non-EU/Worldwide locations, preferably with the EU version of this keyboard. Any help is appreciated

G80-3000LQCEU-0

Should be 104 key ANSI-EU keyboard... Worse layout, but if it's what you want...

I have been typing on ANSI US ever since I used a keyboard.
Recently I tried some Chinese ISO, and the experience was awful.

Anyways, I'd really appreciate it if anyone can point me to a German/Austrian e-tailer that ships worldwide other than computeruniverse.

EDIT: Just any e-tailer  that ships worldwide with that particular keyboard would do fine. I know of PCHOME/taobao, but currently searching for cheaper alternatives

I would just suggest googling with product name I gave, and using some translator... Might get lucky might not...

I'm also started with the ANSI layout, when was almost impossible to find anything else, but then the ISO layout arrived and was a great upgrade.

Two weeks of a cherry clears  board and i begin to get the right feeling

The keyboard quality is far from the realforce one, cheap plastic, and a lot of flex, but on the desk it's not so bad...

The clears feeling is quite good though, i hardly mistype now and each key is registered, i have less pain of my fingers, and the tactile bump is definitely softer than in the beginning.

I haven't tested the red one but clears are quite good right now.
I miss a g80-1800 with clears,  maybe my first mod ;-)
Realforce 105 FR, HHKB Pro 2 black, 1 Raptor K1 Black Cherry and 1 Raptor K1 Red Cherry , Compag MX 11800  tBrown Cherry, G80-3000 Clear Cherry , G80-1000 Blue Cherry / Ghetto red, Lexmark 1992 SSK Buckling spring, Unicomp 2011 Customizer 102 Buckling spring
and a few rubber dome/scissors keyboards from Apple/Logitech

Sorry for somewhat gravedigging this thread but I thought it was the appropriate place to ask.

Is both the:
Cherry G80-3000 LQCDE-0
Cherry G80-3000 LQCDE-2

Clear switches? Have the option of choosing and would prefer the white one since I already have black boards but I only know for sure that the black one has clears since someone in this thread linked me to it, I read somewhere that the Q indicates that it has clears? Is the 0 or 2 only the color code of the keyboard?

Yes, the G80-3000LQCDE-2 is an MX White. Just got my hands on new one. Or atleast I hope it's new ;D

similar examples earlier in thread, also on your link it says "Soft Druckpunkt" in this thread they say that means clears and that "Ergonomik Druckpunkt" or something like that means browns.
