COMPAQ mechanical board? IBM M color scheme on it
« on: Wed, 06 April 2011, 23:05:27 »
Hey fellows, new here, was COMPAQ's keyboard ever the grey / beige look of model M, was that mechanical? I seem to remember it different from all kbs ive had. Also it had no windows key and was in a fairly normal layout for a  keyboard of 1993 or whatever year. I liked the heavy touch to the space bar.  It made a clunk similar to a mx blue, in fact maybe im almost positive it had an mx blue 'or green' spacebar..... anybody know what I am referring to as I do not know?

that's a typical cherry thing to use heavier switch for space.
if a compact one, then mx 11800

doh@my pre-edited post, google is my friend. Yeah its standard layout like todays US ANSI 100 something but without the windows key.

I'll look at 1800 when I find it thanks :-)

Doesn't sound like a MX11800 then. Those would be too new anyway. The regular Compaq Extended keyboards with detachable SDL cable were Maxi-Switch rubber dome affairs, IIRC... or foam on foil capacitive? The wiki should know.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D
