I've never tried Reds so I can't attest to them. From what I've read, reds will probably give you much faster action and a snappier feel (the blacks feel like they're pushing up against you the deeper you press) but I've heard some people say they could never get used to the lightness of em and would often accidentally trigger a key they didn't intend to. If it means anything, most of the time I've seen these comments, it's from people who came from using a Black board so they just might be super used to the heavy keystroke.
It might depend on your playing style too. Blacks have been great for me in FPS games because it allows me to "ride" the actuation points of A and D while holding down W meaning most times either A or D (or sometimes both) are constantly being held a quarter of the way down. I like having that pushback against me so know exactly when I am and am not pressing a key because the resistance is heavy and consistent. I also feel like I can instantly change directions this way since they're so close to the activation point. I think a red board might be for someone who keeps their fingers off A & D or just barely resting on them. Trying to "ride" the board like with a black I think would be a little harder and might lead to some mis-strokes. On the otherhand, the lighter keystroke means they can go from 0 to activation quickly so it probably cancels out. It's probably the case one isn't "better" than the other, they're just suited for different type of gamers.
As for typing, the blacks are definitely an acquired taste. I think very few people instantly fall in love with typing on blacks but it's kinda funny, they grow on you eventually, or at least it did for me, and I enjoy typing on em. As much as on my blues? No, but it's a uniquely fun experience in it of itself. Some people swear by typing on reds but I can't really comment on that.
