Suggestions for a full-size Cherry Brown keyboard
« on: Tue, 17 May 2011, 08:15:59 »
All of my current keyboards are too clicky for my new job.  I was going to go buy a Filco, but I see that Elitekeyboards no longer sells them, and the Leopold replacements aren't available with a numpad.

Can anyone suggest a good Cherry Brown keyboard currently available in the US?

I could swear that I looked at that last night and it wasn't available.  On order.  Thanks!

The filco is pretty loud, though. Quieter than a pcb mounted keyboard with blues, but, if you bottom out hard, it's not much quieter.
For somebody who is not used to mechanical keyboards (i.e. the coworkers), it's a hell of a loud keyboard. I much prefer plate mounted keyboards and love my brown filco to death, but if you bottom out and low noise is a high priority, get a pcb mounted board. If you don't bottom out, you can probably get away with a filco.

Hm, that's a good point.  I don't bottom out hard, but it might still be a concern.  Can anyone recommend a quality PCB-mounted Cherry Brown that is, again, currently available in the US?

Cherry.

You will eventually learn not to bottom out. Especially if you are under the pressure of keeping it down.

Okay, I got my Cherry Brown Filco in and I'm not exactly thrilled with it.  I should have done a little more research first, but I didn't realize how slight the tactility of the keys is; I was thinking it was just a Blue minus the shuttle on the key peg, but that's apparently not the case, and the Clear is closer to that.

First, am I correct in that assessment?

Second, if so, is there a Cherry Clear currently available in the US?

The deck ice has a board with clears on it IIRC.
