Welcome!  Did you buy the Lite 2 or the Pro 2?

I'm new too, but FWIW, I love typing on my Pro 2 very much and I think "wet clay tablets" is exactly right.  I tend to agree though that it does not justify its high price, so I consider it a luxury item.

I heard that the layout takes some time getting used to. Others give up and sell it just for that same reason. If you can get used to it, then it's definitely a keeper. I loved my realforce.

No, it's just that I've been typing on the realforce for the past 4 years. I felt like typing on something else so switched to cherry blues and browns for now. Realforce is still here. :)

I always wanted to know: How the hell do you work a keyboard with no arrow keys? Especially in Windows...

I'm sure you won't regret it.  Best $170 I ever spent on a keyboard. lol  As far as my first "decent" board that would have to be a Filco "Otaku" browns.

My first "decent" keyboard was an old Dell AT101W from about 2000. Got rid of that a while ago. Once I got back into mechanical keyboards, I grabbed a Das Keyboard III. And now I'm rockin Filcos like crazy. I'd love to get a 104 brown and 87 black. Lots of $$$ tho

I don't recommend waiting for the HHKB3.

Seems to be taking a while.  The engineers seem more interested in different dyed colors for the keys.

I STILL long for that red control.
Missed an auction for a cheap one a few months back and I'm still kicking myself over it.

Or I could've buy another set of blank keys to die myself. Meh.

Nice.  I heard the Lite 2 feels nowhere as good as the Pro 2.  I got the dark grey with blank keys.

I hate arrow keys.  You have to physically pick up your wrist to use them.  I map it to modifier+hjkl.  Hands stay on home row.

This model is the HHKB Pro JP. In there web site they said that some of the features in this model are "Array model or mark-free Japanese " and "JIS 69 key sequence", What does it mean ?.

BTW I am considering getting one. I do not have any experience with HHKB, so I am not sure if this  will work straight from the box in my unix and win box

My guess: "mark-free Japanese" means a Japanese-style physical layout but without actual kana markings on the keycaps. You get the Henkan/Muhenkan/Kana/Yen etc. keys. Not a bad thing if you don't type in Japanese but think you can find alternative uses for the extra keys.

Not that any HHKB is "JIS" per se, just Japanese-style. Since they have such an idiosyncratic approach to the layout, it's well worth your trouble to hunt down a detailed picture of what you'd be getting and figure out if that's really what you want.
