Clever, fun, some old school top-down 2d space ship gaming.  Small gaming company.  Probably not worth the $15 they charge (not to mention you can only get it through crappy Impulse/Stardock), but fun nonetheless.  I think they have a free demo you can d/l if you want to get a feel for it.

And sorry Ripster, but the coders appear to be Canadian.

It does have some clever details, when a ship is about to explode you can see all its life pods fire out, it's a cool effect.  Then when you pick them up you either add them to your crew or make them "walk the plank" so to speak, in which case you see the flailing little crew member get spit out of the airlock.

Yeah unfortunately I've missed out on a lot of FPS games because they make me physically ill.  Sucks.

Well it would be one thing if I just experienced the effect while playing, but typically I feel ill for several hours after stopping playing.  Kind of a deal breaker!  Ironically though, I can manage to get used to the "over the shoulder" perspective like in Fallout 3, which is ironic because much of the view is the same, you just see your entire character.

Thanks for the recommendation OP.

I wasted 3 hours playing it today - heh.
Yeah, on my crappy Thinkpad X200 with the Intel HD4500 graphics and it was awesome. Love the tiny details.

my guess is its a field of view problem for you. i know some others that experience something like motion sickness from playing in first person. on games where you can change it in the config, it makes it less of a problem for them. you might give that a try.

Yep it's based on the perception of restricted field of vision, feels like I'm trying to run through a maze while looking through an empty paper towel tube.  Add that little bobbing gun effect and the only thing I'll be shooting is projectile vomit.  In games where I can switch to a third person view, it becomes manageable.

Played some more SPAZ last night, still haven't seen any Zombies yet!

Yea i have the same issue, only with FPS, happened recently 5 years ago, played unreal/quake/doom no issue, i think the games might be "too real" or something but i have issues with counterstrike too, get near vomiting in 1 hour, i start getting the bile taste in my mouth at around the 30min mark. Felt queasy playing halo too on a console, so idk whats up.

It's FPS for me too, apologies the thread was probably confusing since we're bouncing between discussing a 2d space shooter and 3d FPS.

To bounce topics again, I got a new fleet last night in SPAZ, a Right Hook large cruiser and 2 medium Colts, all with crap tons of beam weapons.  Fun stuff.

Finally found the zombies only to find out beam weapons suck against them because they don't use shields.   And they infest your ship with flailing zombies in space.  Holy crap!
