I mainly just think the rule is stupid and that my thread shouldn't have been deleted (locked I would have understood).

Censoring posts that really attack or demean other members is one thing, but troll polls are always lulz-worthy and should be taken in jest.

In short, this is my reaction to the new rule and to my thread being deleted:

As to back on topic, I actually like ripster's new avatar.  For a while, when I was new here, I kept thinking Ripster was a woman who is obsessed with keyboards.  I had (still have) No idea who geekgirl is.

I saw it a couple of times...I work evenings. Even then, he didn't look that bad yet.
I liked the old movie "Badlands" he did about 1974. He played a mass murderer based on a true story.

You know, with the amount of animosity I'm seeing shown towards Ripster (mainly from a couple people), I don't blame him for changing his avatar like he did.  I see more negative posts towards him than coming from him.  In fact, I noticed it before the troll poll went crazy.  

And really, even questioning the value of the useful data he contributes?  That just seems shameful.  

Methinks that all involved probably don't even realize that they are almost derailing the board.  A little maturity from everyone (and just a little since humor keeps things interesting) would help.

I always hated IRCs especially when running in parallel to a forum, in the beast case is an option to steal interest from the forum itself, in the worst case...
