Any word on a Filco Ninja blue-switch keyboard?
« on: Thu, 21 July 2011, 15:41:21 »
As far as I know, this keyboard does not exist. I imagine no one really knows without working wherever these are manufactured, but does anyone know if this keyboard will ever exist? I'm currently debating between Filco and Leopold so this is why I ask. I really like the "otaku-like" aspects of the Ninja with the legends being there if needed, but only brown or black switch. Leopold has blues and sure, I could suck it down and order an Otaku, but I don't think I'm there quite yet. The regular keycaps will eventually fade and probably bug the crap out of me... Similarly, I could just order the Ninja Brown and (more than likely) be happy with it, buying the Ninja Blue if/when it comes out.

Alternatively -- does anyone know of any keycap sets that are like the HHKB (black-ish on black) and double-shot? The set over at TankGuys is sold out...

It exists. It's just not here yet. Keyboard Co will have some in about 6 months, as far as I know.

Interesting. Not quite what I was looking for, but I will keep that in mind (though price + shipping could get me half of another keyboard...).

Or you could buy a Blue normal and a Brown Ninja and swap the innards and caps.

In Japan, the ninja line currently only comes in either Cherry black or brown.   However, you can do it like prd said, just get a regular filco then switch the keys

Good to know it exists. Again, no one can really see the future, but according to that Australian site, the keyboard is on pre-order until July 29th. Is there a likely chance that the US market (mainly Amazon) will see it around that date as well? I've already waited this long, a few more weeks won't hurt anything...

On OCN some was able to get a ninja tenkeyless in blues, but he got his in japan i believe. Also they dont call it ninja they call it black

I would contact keyboardco and ask if they planning to stock the ninja blue in the future since technically they are the one providing amazon with stock

Any particular person to contact (Bruce, Andy, Martin, Rob, or John) or does it not really matter? I have no clue on their employee layout. Possibly John since he is the Sales Manager?

I am going to buy this as soon as it's available. I want a filco, I love the aesthetics of the ninja, and I want a board with blues. Seems like the stars have aligned but the damn things are impossible to get :/

I love my mx browns but they are not quite as tactile as I thought they would be. I think blues are for me.

Cool, I would love to finally have an answer to this haha, since there's been an amazon page with "unavailable" up for what seems like forever.

Never even knew about that... I wonder if they have the TKL version. Guess I can't be picky though, if it only comes in full-size, then I guess that's the one I'll be buying.

Just checked my email, got a reply back from John --

I guess they exist, I just have not been able to find an amazon page for it.
The videos at the bottom are for a mx black version, but at the top of the page it says "clicky" so your guess is as good as mine

sorry to bump but a feeling bit desperate (yeah sad i know).. I  assume nobody has actually got one of these since thread dead for a couple weeks, just hoping/praying maybe somebody did manage to order one?  Currently using regular tenkeyless w/ blues, it is soooooo nice but a few years old, a few spills, sort of time for a new favorite kb and the ninja w/ blues is exactly perfect if it can be had.

I feel you. I just joined this forum not too long ago from the Keyboard Company site. I am too waiting on word of this product. I've finally found the perfect keyboard for my setup and alas it is nowhere to be found. Hopefully bdpq can send word if he finds any in stock during his business trip. Let's keep this hope alive!

Only go with a ninja look if you remember where all the @#$%&*?/ are.  It is too tiring to hunch down to look at the front of the keys when you forget one of them.

Guess I forgot to post this here (I did in the other topic on the vendor forums, though) --

Quote
I have some news for you but I suspect it may not be as welcome as you had hoped.

The production of Ninja Blue Switch, the FKBN104MC/EFB2 and the FKBN87MC/EFB2 will take place towards the end of September.

Allowing for shipping and Amazons booking in system, we hope to be to have product on sale on Amazon USA around the third week of October.

Not ideal, but I am sure the wait will be worth it.

I have seen your thread on Geek Hack, I would be grateful if you could update with the above to let the other guys know.

Kind Regards

John

With that, I'm not even sure if these keyboards exist yet, given that John states that production won't begin until the end of September. The links on the first page of this thread throw a wrench into things as to whether or not there are any currently. As for now, there are several solutions that probably don't want to be heard. We can either wait it out, go full otaku, buy a currently existing Ninja (brown or black) and a regular Majestouch-2 in blues and swap the keycaps, or just look into a different keyboard altogether...

Thanks for the info..

Now that I think about it, I think I remember that back when I got my current tenkeyless with blues it was one of the first they made with those switches, although the browns and maybe some others had been around for some time.   Wonder why they seem to delay the blues, IMHO they are the nicest of all the cherry switches.  Maybe I'm weird lol.

Here in the States Blues are available through Amazon , but they don't last long typically.  I emailed Diatec a couple weeks ago and they gave me heads up about a shipment being on it's way.    If you email them, they might be able to tell you when and where to find one.

They even replied to me that no where in the world is a RED switch Filco TKL available.
