Filco Minus Key does not register - please help
« on: Tue, 30 August 2011, 08:38:18 »
Dear All,

I have a strange problem with my Filco keyboard.
Recently the minus key on the keypad stopped registering.

The key does a full traversal but does not register.
When i push on the side a little bit, and here have to use much more force, then it registers.
Can anybody give me some advice how i can resolve this issue ?

Regards,

davin

What type of switches are they?  First thing to try is blowing compressed air into the switch, there could be a foreign particle in there that is preventing contact from being made.

As long as it doesn't ping, it should be fine.

imo remove the keyboard and look underneath with it still plugged into the computer, take a wire or something metal and create a connection between the two points of contact with the minus key. If you see a minus on the screen then i guess
1. switch bad
2. resolder, pin is off.

Hi
Thanks for all the suggestions;
They are blue MX switches btw.
I will take the keyboard home and try some compressed air, or check underneath the key.
Regards
