Fujitsu Peerless thing
« on: Fri, 09 September 2011, 23:57:58 »
So I've acquired a keyboard from my friend.

I'm under the assumption it's a "fujitsu peerless". It has a spring with a rubberdome thing underneath.

What is the whole deal with these things? For typing, the keys do have sort of a "click", but it's incredibly stiff. Even more stiff than a model M. The spacebar is very hard for me to actuate while typing. Even if I press it, it doesn't signal due to the need to hit it incredibly far & hard since the dome acts as the buckling mechanism?

It's totally bizarre. The indicator lights are integrated in the respective keys; I don't like that.

Got any nickels for a RipOmeter test?

I have a friendly debate going on at Deskthority.net on the Fujitsu Peerless.

I have canadian nickels, but probably like only one USA one.

Here's the backside:
MODEL FKB4700 SERIES
FCC ID: C9S4D8KB4700
FUJITSU LIMITED

See RipOmeter for Canadian nickel values.  Depends on the year.

You'll need 70-90g of them.  That sucker is stiff.

Me posting this got me banned at Deskthority.net for "threadcrapping".

Okay I'll drop a few on it later. It'll take a lot, though.

You can actually fatigue your hands incredibly well with a peerless. I wager the reason for the stiffness lies in the fact that the spring doesn't "buckle", so it's similar to the C64's awful keyboard.
