Most manufacturers don't provide ergo clears, right? From what I've read so far (I'm still pretty new to the forums) you basically swap out the spring of the MX clear switch out for the spring of a MX brown/blue switch, right?

If it's possible, could someone explain what it means for MX clears to be "stiffer" than browns? Is there more resistance and tactility as you press down on the key?

I am so tempted to pull the trigger on the clears and if it comes in white I think I'll be all over it. I'm really looking for something stiffer than my reds and with some tactile feedback to be a little more practical for typing. It's taking me quite a bit of adjustment to type on reds but I find it fantastic for gaming.

Yeah, ergo clear is an after-market mod. Stiffer means harder to push, but not necessarily more tactile.

ํYa, my weak fingers can't handle real clears. I tried a Deck Frost and sent it back. Love my new Filco ergo clear though.

Clears are stiffer then browns in two different ways. First, the clears have a stronger spring that requires more force to push down. I find that brown keys depress slightly when wresting my hands on them, clears do not. Second, the clears have a large bump on the slider, so it's very noticeable when you reach the activation point. Some people have described the tactility of browns as feeling like reds with dirt in them, though that's probably unkind. So yes, more resistance and tactility as you press down on the key,
