I just made the switch to mechanical, and since desk space is at a premium at the moment I got a tenkeyless (Filco brown). I'm adjusting to the spacing, which is expected, but the hardest thing is the missing numpad enter button. Without thinking about it, I used it all the time whenever my right hand is on the mouse and I need to hit enter.

I never even noticed it before, but now that its gone it is driving me nuts.
I've hit the right arrow instead 3 times during this post alone.
Does anyone else do this?

I just got the same keyboard an hour ago and I was thinking of the same thing, but it's not much of a big deal.

get a mouse that you can re-map one of the buttons to enter?

I notice I used the num pad enter key after copy + pasting something, i'm considering of remapping the right arrow key. What's the best way going about this?

Yeah copy-paste is probably the most common use, but I'm finding others.
I also considered remapping the right arrow, but then I'll be mad when I want to use the right arrow for its intended purpose.
Mapping a mouse button seems like a good idea. I'll try this tomorrow at work where I have a mouse with thumb buttons.

Nah, my keyboard is sitting on top of a computer case, and the mouse is on a stack of old textbooks, so they're pretty far apart.

Pretty cool though. I never thaught of using my right thumb that much. All the better to learn lefthanded Dvorak, tohaugh. You can remap the -+ and Enter keys to all sorts of useful things to press while mousing.

I do need to lose this stupid ball mouse though and find that optical one.

If you're going to try remapping, I recommend AutoHotKey. A bit of a learning curve, but its pretty much a complete solution for remapping anything, making macros, etc.

I downloaded something called "SharpKeys" and just remapped the right arrow key to enter in the registry, now I just have to wait until I find myself needing the right arrow key!

I use KeyTweak, personally. It's a bit more graphical, which I like.

When I switched to TKL I missed the numpad enter key being there. Maybe get an external keypad.

You can always buy a separate keypad. Or another fullsize Filco brown.

I'm sure I will get used to it, just as I would get used to losing a finger, but I'd still rather have the finger.
I'm going to stick it out for a while. If it is still bothering me after a month I'll switch to a full size.

As people said, just remap LWin / LCtrl / Ctrl+e / Shift+Space / Alt+Space to Enter (and Capslock to LCtrl). Or get a Poker.

Oooh, Ctrl + Space seems like a good idea. Then I can do Ctrl+V, Space to paste, enter.
The only app I ever use that uses that combination is Eclipse, and I don't use Eclipse enough to miss it.
