This is what we demand:

I'm not sure if this is a joke or not, but I don't see anything even approaching this level of complexity happening for this buy.

By my tally, we have 17 people so far interested in something like 30 red Escapes, and 11 or 12 people interested in as many RGB sets.  Three mentioned ISO left Shifts, and a couple seem interested in short right Shifts for Choc Minis.  There has been some talk about including a yellow Meta key with an as yet undetermined legend.

17 people for 30 escapes is pretty good in one day of an Interest Check.

The real thing is actually more detailed than the mockup I posted. That's not doubleshots, though.

I don't know where the Cherry star come from. I suspect it's not a star but a cursor that Sixty designed it for this board! http://keyboardporn.com/mx-switch/g80-3500-hau---cherry-mouseboard/

The "Cherry star" was in fact originally an authentic Cherry key used in their G80-2000, a battleship featuring a display and a lot of fantastic looking keys nobody remembers what they were for - inter alia the "Cherry star".

I had one now owned by sixty, who made fantastic pictures of it:

By the way, I'm not sure Cherry would appreciate very much their logo being replicated for sale. As far as I am informed, it's not just unfair, it's illegal as well.

I think people are trying to turn this buy into something far more complex than Hashbaz had in mind when he decided last night to throw out the interest check.

Not at all, but you can't just pick the most popular stuff and leave the rest to Round4!

Quote from: calavera;436915
How about you split it into two general categories, make it simple.

choice #1 : ESC only
choice #2 : RGBY for Filco/Poker/Leopold...etc (all 1.25)
choice #3 : RGBY for others (1.5 modifiers + single ALT, short right shift for Noppoo choco mini, EU-size shift)

Something like that, see how many are interested in each.

Perfect idea!

I'd be interested in 4-5 Esc keys. I live in Germany.

So far into the interest check I guess I'm too late to suggest doing White on Red as well as Black on Red. :(

Well, in that case all Moogle kit 2 owners should go to jail for replicating the windows logo! Also, the Cherry key has been replicated before:

Both are actually valid points.  I think if MK2 came to M$'s attention they would object, not because of the use of the Windows logo, but because of the use of an outdated Windows logo on a flat key.

Because I *like* Cherry or at least approve of their products, (there is a huge difference - I think Volkswagens are great cars, especially the ones from the mid-80's, but at least as of when I sold my last one, VWoA was populated by combusting anuses) I'd feel obligated to contact them regarding the use of their logo.

That didn't keep me from buying several of the Moogle kits (I'm anxiously awaiting them BTW,) but on the flip side, I'd gladly replace that goofy key with "Super," "Meta" or just a blank.
Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)

I think it's fair use as long as you don't resell the keycap claiming it's an original Cherry product. Then again, I'm no lawyer!

SP definitely cares about trademark infringement.  The TeamLiquid buy had to get permission before their order was accepted.  I think the Windows key might be a little different because it's on most every keyboard that is produced nowadays.  SP certainly has permission to produce them.  If we tried to do the Cherry logo and SP knew what it was, they would require us to talk to Cherry.

I'm not crazy about doing the Cherry logo anyway, or the star.  If we do end up doing Y in addition to RGB, I think I would prefer to do the generic diamond shape.  "Meta" might be okay, but again I'm not in love with it, and it would mean more work for cycloverid.

My thoughts are that we pick the most popular stuff, and the rest doesn't need to happen at all.  Were you planning to use cycloverid's legends in R4?  I think sinis has been overreacting with his R4 guilt evangelizing, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes, or genuinely hurt R4.

On second thought, the idea with this buy is to mesh well with vintage Cherry 2-shots.  That kind of argues for sticking with the Windows logo.  What does everyone think?

I guess most people using original Cherry doble shots will already have (or want) a moogle kit, and thus a windows key matching with their keys. Non-windows users like me, on the other hand, might want an alternative system key.

I'm just saying if you had a poll or something similar and have people vote for it, it would have been easier to tally up which set was more feasible.
I figured you'd want to pick the most voted kit for a smaller and quicker group buy.

Anyways, I would be in for 2~3 ESC's and 1~2 RGBY sets depending on the content.

Second day is drawing to a close (PDT).  We added around 12 Escapes and 10 RGB kits, bringing the totals up to around 40 and 20, respectively.  Lots of Europeans are not specifically mentioning ISO, so I'm unsure about what they want/need.  I think calavera is right -- we need a poll or specific categories to declare.  I'll post something to that effect soon.

I'd like the colors to be as faithful as possible to the original Cherry RGB.

If you want them close to the original, for Aggiejy's set the green would need to be a bit lighter, the blue would need to be a bit darker, and the red is really close but just a a bit off. That SNES controller is disturbingly close to the real dea.

I've updated the OP with more detailed instructions regarding left-hand Shift.  Please state whether you (A) are fine with regular ANSI 2.25x left Shift, (B) must have ISO left Shift to participate, or (C) would prefer ISO left Shift but will still participate without it (or (D) some other combination of need/want).

I don't think I've seen anyone asking for anything other than regular 1.25x Ctrl/Alt/Win, which is good.

End of third day.  We lost blainchen, but gained a lot of Escapes.  Totals now stand at around 60 Escapes and 30 RGB sets.

I've sent Melissa a preliminary email to let her know about the buy and ask about splitting the order between ISO and ANSI Shifts.

Maybe if we use the same shade of green as aggiejy for the shiftes, some of the people that bought an RGB in that GB may be interested in getting a ISO left shift. Of course the legend will look a bit different in this case, but it will be hard to notice, because the ISO shift is so short there's only room for the arrow.
