Filco wrist rest $60??????? Ripoff?

Is it really worth that price of admission, is it really twice as good as the Ducky wrist rest?  Is it normally that expensive?

I own both the full sized and tkl sized Filco wrist rests and I would say they are worth the money, I think they cost me about 80 AUD each. The leather has a nice feel too it, is not too soft, and as it is summer here it is not getting sticky from sweat. I can't comment on the ducky one, but I did see a review written up comparing both in the Reviews section of the forum.

After sinking about 5-6 Leopolds worth into wrist rests not counting shipping/taxes, I feel ripped off. Terribly ripped off. I should have just made mine out of Legos.

It's subjective but for me, it's worth every penny and then some.

I do not own a Filco wrist rest, but I can not live without a wrist rest. 60 usd may sounds like a lot of money but I prefer paying 60 for something that has good quality than 5 for something bad

I was wondering the same thing as I looked at the Filco leather wrist rest. It would match nicely with my Filco keyboard, but I've never used a wrist rest before, and I don't really feel like I need to start using one now.

And then you could use that other mech keyboard as a wrist pad for the mech keyboard that you originally needed a wrist pad for!..

I'm happy with my Ducky wrist rest. It cost me a third of what a filco wrist rest goes for.

I don't need a wrist rest at my standing desk, but if I did, that's how I'd use it.

It's a good use for the WYSE I've got.

I'm more concerned about whether or not it feels good.
Some people said it wasn't very high up or that it was hard.

Usually, it has to be pretty hard to be high up and feel good.

I own a 3M one and it does what it needs to. Its nothing great, but it serves its purpose. I might end up switching to a Ducky wrist rest though.

I thought normal typing doesn't need a wrist rest? Is one primarily useful for gaming?

Interestingly all the ergonomic websites will tell you not to use the wrist rest when typing but in between when your hands are at rest.  For me if my hands are not typing on the keyboard, they are usually doing something else like writing or answering the phone or picking up paper, etc.  I rarely just sit with my hands at the keyboard without actually typing.  I've never thought I needed one.  I had one keyboard a while ago that had a built in keyboard and that actually made my hands sore.

For the geek hackers that use the wrist rests - does it help your hands or wrists feel better or less fatigued?
Current in order of preference:  RealForce 87U Silent White with variable weighted keys X 2, Filco Majestouch 2 Tenkeyless with Linear Reds, Filco Number-pad, Poker with Linear Reds

Sold or returned:  Multiple Microsoft and Logitech keyboards, Das Keyboard Silent, Cherry 6140, RealForce 103UB, RealForce 86U, Filco Majestouch 2 full sized with Linear Reds

The Filco wristrest is very high quality to match the quality of their keyboards. Very well thought out as well with the "stepped" design. Most comfortable I've ever used and well worth the money.

The 3 Star brand one from EK is crap I'd say. I've had that one, Ducky, 3M, and Filco and Filco is the best with Ducky right behind.

The 3 Star one is leather on the back and slides all over the place. Terrible design....

Lol your only qualm with the ek one is that it slides on the desk? Come on think a little, get some Egrips.

Having used both the filco an ek offering i would say the ek one has better construction and higher quality materials which actually merit the cost vs the filco which the ducky is almost the same for much cheaper.

Damn. I use a $10 Fellowes Microban at the office (they got it for me). Easy to clean, is made of some sort of odd but comfortable gel covered by some sort of charcoal gray stretchy fabric.

I'm pretty sure it sustains my wrists as good or better than that $60 thingy.
