"Filco" logo removal
« on: Wed, 04 January 2012, 01:42:29 »
i'm changing the pure black "Filco" logo from my TKL ninja to the gen1 silver logo. how do i take off the logo to replace it? do i pop it off from inside out, or is it glued on the casing and i have to pry it off somehow? this is my first filco, so i've never opened one up before. i just want to make sure before i start.

EDIT: figured it out on both TKL and full size 104. description and pics on the 2nd page:

For full size board, removing/poking out the pin/stem of the logo from the inside.

For TKL, not sure.

full size 104 logo looks the same as the TKL 87. it looks like the only way to find out is to bust the warranty sticker first :(

Is it done? I don't think I have seen that before sounds cool.

But my idea would be like the yellow filco:

But not yellow! I think a red tinted one on a filco with reds would be the sex

I pulled apart my Filco Multicam TKL and it appears that the Filco logo is glued in, there was no pin to push it out or hole either. Hope this helps

thank you, best post of the thread. it looks like TKL is different than full size 104 :frown:. your TKL was a majestouch-2 right? i wonder why the 104 logo is removable while the 87's version is not.

If you guys are still wondering, both full size and TKL logos are put on by sticky stuff in the back of the logos. They're not screwed on or punched on or anything. I took them out by carefully taking an exacto blade and gently pry up one side first, then just took my finger and lifted the rest up. The sticky stuff was still on the back, so I just swapped and pressed the logo back into the carved out hole.

Full size 104 case with logo pulled out. Also notice there are two little holes in that slot, which you can poke out the logo from the inside out if you took the case apart.

TKL case with logo pulled out. Notice the two holes to push out the logo is not present in the TKL case. Only way to take off the logo is use a sharp blade and carefully pry out the logo.

There are the two logo I'm about to swap. There's sticky stuff on the back, so that's how they stick to my fingers.

I replaced the gunmetal colored logo with a pure black colored logo onto this full size case.

I am just going to use a plastic safe primer then rattle can it. If it doesn't look good. um well. There is that Vortex aluminum case coming >____>
Some other ideas: Pearl white the whole case with the logo, color the top of the Filco logo red. Red on red and polish the logo to a shine. Gun Metal, original MJ1 logo.

Edit: I was browsing and ran into some 3m carbon vinyls. I think I am gonna try that first ;o Carbon with a polished silver logo. sounds good in theory.

Interesting....  What just happened there?

Oh, and thank you for the logo removal tutorial!  I was thinking of removing my Filco logos and filling in the holes with metal filler, or something like that.
