Noppoo Choc Mini Sleep/Logout Problem!!
« on: Fri, 06 January 2012, 04:33:36 »
Hi, I just got a Noppoo Choc Mini w/ Browns recently but it has this problem where once in a while my computer screen would turn black and then it would either go to sleep or log-out of my windows account?

My friend who got his last week has this same problem!

Any solutions or suggestions? TIA!!<3

Have you tried with a desktop? Tell us the OS and its version you are using.

Hmm try Linux then. Keyboards are a bit sensitive and don't like it when you let the Windows open.

If you unplug the 'board, does the "problem" stop?  Similarly, can you plug it into another PC and duplicate the problem?  I have a Choc Mini, and I have never seen this happen.  It would be very strange that a keyboard could change a Windows power setting.  I wonder if there was another change that occurred around the same time like a Windows update, or some other system tweak you may have made.

I would be very surprised if it was the keyboard directly that is causing your issues.  Blue screens are typically caused by device-driver issues or failing hardware.  And I've never heard of a USB device causing the computer to logout.  That sounds fishy.  On my Windows 7 System, the Choc Mini registers as:

HID Keyboard Device
HID Keyboard Device (Twice as opposed to once, I believe this is how it achieves NKRO over USB with its custom controller registering as two keyboards)
HID-Compliant consumer control device
HID-Compliant device
USB Composite device
USB Input Device
USB Input Device

It uses standard Microsoft drivers for everything.

Does any of your switch, numlock or scroll lock light blink when plugging it in?

Hmm well the bluescreen happened only from waking up from sleep, which i am thinking is caused by the keyboard. It's cause this sleep problem has never happened until I got this keyboard. The same goes for my friend who got the keyboard about a week before me. I also haven't had any windows update until today.

What happens if you try a different keyboard?

Hmm i don't have another keyboard =/ But my friend with his desktop had no problems before with his non-mechanical, and only had the problems after he got the Choc Mini. We bought it off the same ebay dealer, but this dude has 11000+ stars and 99.5% rating. Many people buy Choc Mini's from him and i don't see people complaining in the feedback!

I've had my choc mini on windows 7, xp and chrome os with no issues; only sometimes the switch or scroll lock is on after a reboot. If it is still blue screening again I would check out what driver is crashing on the blue screen, Run that bluescreenview and post the system files that come back in red.

Looks like it might be my ATI/directX drivers??

I gotta see if my friend has ATI gfx or not.

No errors. But i noticed that on the dxdiag it says DirectX version: DirectX 11. I have a Mobility Radeon HD 4670 and it says it runs in DirectX 10.1 on notebookcheck. Could this be the cause? Or the version shouldn't be a problem?

Sorry this has totally gone off tangent, but I guess I should check if my friend has ATI gfx too.

I am certain he didn't have the problem until after he got his Choc Mini though =/

I actually had this issue as well, key word is HAD...

What I did to fix it was go into power options in control panel and set the power button to do nothing, and then set the sleep button to do nothing as well.  Mine never BSOD'd or anything but I did have my computer try to enter sleep a few times while gaming...oddly I never even got disconnected from ventrilo or the game I was playing.  I don't turn my computer off by pressing the button anyway so it was a small sacrifice to make.
