I like to take things apart look at them and put them back together. How do you open a HHKB? Is there any screws under the feet or is it just the 3 at the top? If any one can give me guidance I will be grateful.

Is it bad that I kind of cringed when I read this?

Why? You don't break things just by opening them.

only those three if you just want to peek inside or replace the controller, but to reach the rubberdomes and sliders, you need to open 16 more on the PCB

the controller can easily be dislodged from its groove, and so are replacing it, but at my first trial, I got some difficulty to align the USB port so they're as flush as before (1-2mm slight), but several tries later seems to fix it. I'm sure it's just my inexperience handling electronics.
wait.. I thought you've had it for quite some time?

It does not always happen, but it can happen. Some people are even left with extra parts :-)

Yea I remember this dodgy garage I took my car too. The guy replaced the passenger side window and was left with 6 or 7 screws can't remember. He was like eh.... these weren't in there. LOL. Total Muppet that guy!

As part of my work I have to dismantle expensive hardware (I won't go into detail) [for litigation] and the only way to keep track for me is to meticulously catalog every item on drawings and sometimes photos.

Good luck fossala!

I too think that taking photos is the way to go if you can.

I have to agree, photos are the best. I've taken computer cases apart before (down to the removing all the rivets and everything) and I would of been absolutely screwed if I hadn't taken any photos.

Damn, that's a lot of screws.  I need to open up one of mine soon as it's developed a clacky spacebar.
