Where to buy rubber feet?
« on: Mon, 06 February 2012, 18:28:58 »
Where on earth can you find some good material to make replacement rubber feet? My new Model F has a single rubber foot missing, and I've been sort of dumbfounded as to where I can aquire something to replace it. I'm also keen on replacing the rubber on my Topres and Model M, since they slide around a little too much for comfort. The feet on the Model F are very effective, and so I'm keen on buying something like those... would an online retailer specializing in gaming maybe have some?

I haven't seen anything online, but I've seen stick-on rubber pads at my local hardware store for putting on the inside of cabinet doors.  I'm not sure if they'd be thick enough but maybe?

I know its pretty easy to get felt ones at lots of electronics/hardware/furniture stores, but these are more to stop scratching than movement. Don't know about rubber ones, but I'd suggest looking in similar places.
Current collection:
Filco Majestouch 104-Key, w/ MX Browns
IBM Model M 52G9700
Leopold FC200R, "white" w/ MX Clears
Ducky DK9008S \'Shining\', white backlit w/ MX Blues
Cherry G80-3494(LCYUS-2), w/ MX Reds for Portal Mod

Not mine, but I\'ve got access to:
Filco Majestouch Linear R Limited Edition, w/ MX Reds
Filco Majestouch 2 \'Ninja\' Tenkeyless, w/ MX Blues
Leopold FC500R, w/ MX Browns

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and where they sell the rubber leg caps, carpet sliders for furniture and what not. There they sell different sizes of self-adhesive little foam-rubber feet,I think you can get square or round. They'll work perfect as they aren't very thick about 1/8"(maybe a tad thicker), and have a little traction pattern on them to keep from slipping. i think they are to prevent scratches on wood floors or something. I've used them on other projects and they are great.

This store is actually a couple miles from where I live. I went there specifically to buy rubber feet. Shipping isn't bad, but I would buy a couple to make it worth it.
The clear ones have great grip, and the 100 x 54mm rubber pad can be easily cut to size for lots of different uses.

I picked these up at Home Depot and they were very grippy. They are stackable as well.

I've been testing out different types of feet to go along with my wrist rests (I like to include a couple different sizes free so that people can adjust the height if they want).

Had a great suggestion from GSimon that I should start selling these for people who need simple sets of keyboard feet, so I'm going to be offering these in my shop as soon as I get some envelopes to ship them in :)

Right now my standard packages have sets of 10 3.5mm cylindrical bumpons and 10 flat (~1.5 mm) nonslip rubber squares.  Should be enough to fit any keyboard in a couple of different height configurations.

I've found and am using a perfect alternative of Model F rubber foot.
What I'm using is SJ-P5007 manufactured by Takachi electric industrial.
