Rubber Dome Strickes Back!? Behold the QUIET gaming keyboard.
« on: Wed, 08 February 2012, 22:47:09 »
Guess the main feature of the board is being "quiet". Certainly a plus against the noisy mechanical gaming keyboard out there on the market..lololol

It sounds as quiet as any other rubber dome...I guess its got 6/NKRO /anti-ghosting like other 'gaming' keyboards.

I dunno, mechanical keyboards aren't as loud as some people think they are.

That's all they could come up with ? I'll stick with my "noisy" board.

This video kind of pissed me off.

If you put o-rings/landing pads in, mechanical keyboards can be nearly silent, unless you're mashing the living **** out of them, "clicky" switches excluded obviously.
Plus, I love the marketing jargon, too. "Lightweight" keyboard? I'd have said "flimsy". That, and the magic gold-plated USB.
Current collection:
Filco Majestouch 104-Key, w/ MX Browns
IBM Model M 52G9700
Leopold FC200R, "white" w/ MX Clears
Ducky DK9008S \'Shining\', white backlit w/ MX Blues
Cherry G80-3494(LCYUS-2), w/ MX Reds for Portal Mod

Not mine, but I\'ve got access to:
Filco Majestouch Linear R Limited Edition, w/ MX Reds
Filco Majestouch 2 \'Ninja\' Tenkeyless, w/ MX Blues
Leopold FC500R, w/ MX Browns

I was rather disappointed in Linus that he didn't know other countries have different layout styles.

The "cons" he listed were unavoidable for the region. I'm not even sure why this keyboard is in the NA market.

I find that even if you don't bottom out or use o-rings that most of the noise from mechanical keyboards actually comes from the release of the key when the switch springs it back up into place, which is something that you can't really do anything to avoid.

OH MY! that video made me cringe! The sound of those keys! ewwwww instead of putting it next to the SS he should have smashed that POS with it. Lightweight = CHEAP!

i would almost put money that my WASD with soft landing pads/MX Reds is quieter.

And the answer to your question would be no.
This is like any other "gaming" keyboard with rubber domes.
Simple advertising tricking the customer into thinking they are getting more than they actually are.

you could almost see as soon as the plastic came off he wanted to throw it! WOW Lightweight, BOOM. Their is no such thing as a gaming KB. I used to use a G15/19 to make myself better as a gamer. Got a mech and never looked back. Instead of looking at the little LCD I'm looking at the monitor....

Spose he got paid to sound happy i guess.

Rubber Dome is Rubber Dome unless you pay for a HH or TR thats the only hybrid/mech id ever consider.

One of my favorite things about high end mechanicals are their weight.

I noticed that too.

I've not seen one of this guys' videos before. Is he supposed to be good?

Most definitely, nothing worse then having to rearrange a KB during a gun fight or a hardcore typing session on MSN :)

Some people have yet to hear about Topre Low-noise version.

Ripster is kind enough to show us how to take care of rubberdomes.

Slightly lighter than blue and minus the noise :)

Take it easy on Linus on doing the video.

Remember guys that he works at NCIX -- which if I am not mistaken is a computer sales company.

Higher ups may have asked him to unbox the keyboard just for sales sake.

I think a guy like him who personally uses Steelseries mechanical keyboards has some personal opinion with regards to the rubber domes he unboxes.

You touched my heart, bro.

Despite having and used brown, blue, and red(cherry), I still do feel that k120 is a nice board, especially the gray color of the bottom part of it.
