IBM Trackpoint M13 / Realforce 103 55G / Cherry MX Clear 104
« on: Mon, 13 February 2012, 19:49:33 »
Revised:

I'm looking to try out a bunch of keyboards. I recently found out Unicomp's are 2KRO so I don't want those. And only ANSI / US Layout.

Wants:
* Trackpoint Keyboard (M13 or the Trackpoint IV Rubber-dome, Black preferred) KPD8923 (Beige) or 01K1260 (Black)
* Realforce 103 55G Uniform (Black preferred)
* 104 Keyboard with Cherry MX Clear switches.

So I'll consider any Trackpoint keyboard now. I've seen some Trackpoint IV's that are rubber-dome but also 104 key. Hoping not to spend more than $40-50 on a rubber-dome though. Otherwise M13 would work too, preferably black but I've read that the lettering on those wear off pretty easily which sucks. So maybe a beige board won't be so bad. I type a lot so keys wearing out defeats the purpose of having lettering on them in the first place. (I'd rather take blank if they're just going to wear out, I don't look at my keyboard while typing anyways).

I've been wanting to try out a Realforce but also prefer a numpad so I'll want a 103 version, and I prefer higher resistance so 55G uniform.

And the final keyboard I want to try is a clear cherry MX board. I've heard they're like browns but stiffer. That was my real dislike with the DAS was the the blue keys were too light and I couldn't get used to it. Might try again later. I have no real preference on the make of the board as long as it works. Standard 104 keys with clear switches.

I'll also look for a set of PBT caps for the DAS potentially if the price is right. I have the ultimate edition with blank keys but a lot of them have gotten worn down and look shiny and feel different.

If you're wondering about shipping costs, I live in Sammamish, WA, USA.

If anyone is familiar with Heatware

Black with beige keys? Haha, opposite of my Model M right now (Beige case, Black keys).

I'm actually not 100% set on the black/black combo but It was something I was hoping to find.

I'll be watching ebay for a bit looking for the black/black M13.

Made some changes as I think more about what I want to try. Trackpoint is getting less required, I'd like to try it out...

I've got a nearly brand new M13 (beige). It looks like it's had little to use. $90 including shipping to the US.

I have a brand new Realforce 103UB in black 55g that I'm thinking of parting with. I like the 103, but I decided after buying it to get an 87u. Send me a PM if you're interested

Maybe, was hoping to maybe find a used one and save a bit of money over the cost of new (elitekeyboards still has them for $235). Mainly because I've never tried a topre switch so I have no idea if I would like it or not.

I see they lowered the price a bit. I agree Topres are costly but they're definitly worth it. How about $200 + shipping?

As far as I understand "ergo" clears are lighter than regular clears correct? Is there anyway to mod it to just regular clears?

I'll consider that, what are you thinking shipped to 98075?

Probably $15-20, I'd have to get it packaged up to get a better estimate. But I won't charge you more then the actual shipping cost.

I'd rather this KB find a good home then having it sit on a shelf collecting dust :)

I'll think about it, I'm not in any rush to buy keyboards though.

Bump

I guess forum replies don't send notifications automatically like some other forums do so PM's is probably a better route for communication.
