Obviously it doesn't matter, but I'm wondering why people trusted him to do a group buy less than 2 months after registering here.

Nevermind him being a kid and all.

Also, while I don't endorse going to his place to threaten, why not use the info to contact the (hopefully) responsible parents or to retrieve and mail the items he says are waiting to get mailed?

(Note: Threats of parent intervention always lubricated my talking parts when I was embarrassed or otherwise tight lipped about something)

We didn't know the part about him being young and sharing an account with his dad when he started this.  He was a mod at the time, IIRC.  We hadn't had a group buy organizer burn us (at least in recent memory) at that point.  The atmosphere was very relaxed and trusting.

He reads this thread, I'm sure, to gauge the pitchfork level.

Wonder what he thought about seeing his address? heh.

Does anybody want to start up some kind of a group lawsuit against this scumbag? I would be down for sure, if just to ruin this kids life for screwing us. Getting the money back would be nice too.

That seems a bit extreme. Caveat Emptor.

No offense SF but I don't believe you were a member when this went down. We're mad at a kid who stole from us. Not sure whats goin on in the US legal system but in Canada we can't make cases against someone who doesn't have legal personality [i.e children]. I think its impossible but I'm not sure.
Don't you wish Carnifex was at your side?

It's not SF, but any-who. I understand that he made off with money etc. I have read the entire thread, quite uninteresting...but hey, what else am I to do in study hall? I am just saying that this is a Caveat Emptor forum, buy at your own risk. I was a member when this thread was created (Date Registered: Wed, 06 July 2011, 16:09:25).

If he is in fact under 18 it means that either he committed fraud by registering for PayPal, which requires that users be over 18, or another person let him use their account. While I'm not familiar with how the law handles such cases, I'd imagine that someone is still liable for the theft.

Under the laws of most states, including California, a parent can be held liable in civil (not criminal) courts for the actions of their children, in some instances. I wonder if anyone has tried to contact his parents?
