So age check before any group-buys from now on?  You can have good intentions but if you haven't got personal income and rely on pocket money you're gonna have a bad time...

Age doesn't matter much. I've seen on other forums where scammers were 20s and 30s. What did make a difference is how scammers were dealt with.

If I put myself in a real life situation where I needed to evaluate whether I was being scammed or not.  I think a 12 year old in a school uniform telling me lies would be easier to spot than a 35 year old in a suit.  End result could be the same, but if you told your mates which would make you look like a bigger mug?

Not trolling just saying if you think about it, we're all equal on the internet, it's a good thing, but trust is always going to be a tricky area because of that.

FYI, the Internet is written in ink. Your reputation will follow you. You cannot hide from it. And now, no one will ever want to transact business with this "kid" ever again. Such a shame to ruin your online reputation at such a young age.

Yes the total amount is 500-1000, but what are we all going to do?  Go to small claims court filing in CA?
Im gonna fly to CA, file in small claim's court and pay what, $50 for my court filing?
To claim $24?

And its not like there's any group action that can be done about it, maybe if someone has thrown in like $500 themselves, they'll find it worth while to do this

Me?  Plane ticket + time = i'll just chalk it up as a douchebag on the internet.
I was talking about criminal court, not civil court.

yep, criminal court. i know a guy in australia that scammed people on some forums for alot less then this and he got a year suspended sentence (granted he was a repeat offender) but it cant happen.

I don't like this idea. I'm 18 and I've run two completely successful group buys. The key component is not the age of the person, but the maturity thereof.

your right, I take it back, you helped me out bud :) and thanks again for that.

but if I made a mistake as an adult and it was going to cost a hundred quid.  I could face that easier than if i was a child and had no source of income.

Next time you get a chance to talk to him, don't bother asking when he will ship out the stuff, because whatever he says will just be another lie. Instead, ask him why he went hiding in a cave for a couple months, and why he doesn't bother to just drop it off at the post office. I'd love to hear his reason. And also ask him to take pics of everything already packaged up, because at this point I don't believe he even has the packages.

He did post a picture of the stuff that he had actually receive, but seriously... it's not that hard to just put everything inside bubble mailers, write down addresses, and mail them out.

I don't remember exactly, I might have seen a pic too. But I think this was only a few sc2 caps, it could have been his own personal cap. When there are 39 orders, each with at least several sets and he still shows no proof of everything, then I still have doubts whether actually ordered them. Just like the other group buy, he collected all money and never sent the order to imsto.

And according to him, he already packaged everything and ready to ship a couple months ago. So this isn't even a matter of taking massive amount of time to put in bubble mailers and address everything. I just don't understand what's up with this lack of communication and stalling when he clearly still logs in to this forum on a weekly basis.

No, he definitely had the keycaps from this groupbuy. I saw my "osu" keycaps there, and I was the only person to actually order those.

But I agree... the lack of communication is disheartening, to say the least!

Since this guy is ignoring us perhaps someone could knock on his door or give him a call? I'm not sure what to do about this. I feel helpless and my patience ran out 4 months ago. Changdrew [I know you won't answer but we all know you still log in] if the keys actually exist you need to send them. I am about to get in touch with paypal again to try to get my moneys.

I've been away from GH for a bit since the site was 'down'. Can I get an update/summary on the whole Changdrew debacle? I was one of the first to jump on his groupbuy buying a kitty-cat wrist rest(hah). It cost me around $18. Is it a lost cause at this point?

It's confusing to me because he refunded the other buy. I paid a total of around $100 between this buy and the other one. Why refund more than half of the money [with 'sorry' in the comment section]? Worst scam ever lol. Some have theorized that he bought the keys [I remember a pic, not saying it was the real deal] but spent the shipping money elsewhere and can't ship them now [I remember someone saying he bought a bunch of Topre gear right after collecting the money]. I guess we'll never know.

Doesn't make it any less wrong or right that he's a kid. It's still pretty much a scam, and you're still losing the same amount of money.
