Wouldn't you rather center an actual Cherry stepped capslock though?

So stepped capslock is not an option at all, or center-stemmed stepped capslock is not an option?

please clarify.

Thanks Hashbaz

me too!  I plan on using my RGBYs as moogle kits, and that's why I ordered additional stepped caps!

Same here. That's why I asked. But if a certain someone can center stepped capslock for me I won't actually need the SP ones. :spy:

Stepped, center-mount Caps Lock is not doable by SP, according to Melissa.  Stepped, off-center Caps Lock is pointless since you already have one if you have a Cherry/Dolch set.

There's no way to convert the stepped capslock orders to a non-stepped capslock I take it?

Quote from: snoopy;611333
I would also prefer an additional capslock (non-stepped) instead of a refund

I understand the desire to get extra flat Caps Locks instead of the stepped ones, but my guess is most people will just want their money back.

I would still take a stepped capslock if it's available. I can center it myself. I also have boards that don't need to be centered :D

Same here :)

What, i thought that a stepped, center stemmed capslock had already been done in the past by SP, wtf?

Sp has never made such a thing. Which is why it surprised me when they said ok. And didn't want tooling costs covered.

These are the only off-center capslocks I have ever seen from SP. And both of them were unusable as the stem was too far left if I remember correctly.

That's what I thought but I asked about this when the CCnG set first came back without the stepped capslock with center stem. Tsangan said it had been done before. I brought this up after he said SP can't do it and there's been no reply. Here's the relevant posts from that thread:

Quote from: metafour;610149
Will this be the first time anyone has received stepped capslocks with center stems from SP?

Quote from: tsangan;610154
Negative, it has been done before

Quote from: tsangan;611278
Update

Sadly there was an understanding issue with the centre stem stepped capslock. When I was asking for the centre stem stepped caps lock I was referring to centre stem in regards to the entire keycap, but SP understands it as centre stem for the touch surface which is what we refer to it as off-centre stem.

I have spoken with Melissa all morning via email and it is impossible for them to produce a centre stem stepped caps in the way we want them :(

With that being said I did get some progress with the "Lock" legend on stepped caps lock, they are willing to reproduce those with no ETA at this point in time.

I know some people will be disappointed with this news but sadly nothing can be done in regards to this, I've done all I can but it's out of my control.

Also, if what The_Ed says is true apparently SP can't make either correctly... ???

It's a bad idea to promise one thing, then switch it out for something else without everyone's approval.  And getting everyone's approval will take too long, assuming that everyone will want to convert (which they won't).  The only real viable course of action is to just refund everyone.  I'm sorry guys.

So does a fund need to be driven for SP to actually be able to make these? Might wanna see if someone can get that started :P

I think new tooling fees are like $4000 or something. 7bit would know. That's what he has to pay for the SA-profile spacebar to be made for the sphericals.

Anyone have a white enter key coming?

I have a new cherry set and a while ago my dog decided to eat the one key I dropped on my carpet...

I got a replacement from Ascaii but it is probably the shiniest key I have ever seen. :embarassed:

At this point it would be easier for me to get an SP enter and I doubt I can find a real Cherry key that is like new.
Can anyone help me out? Unless you got extras hashbaz that would be even cooler :thumb:

They can do all the tooling they want, its physically impossible to make a fully centered, stepped caps lock. The "step" hits the body of the switch when its pressed down preventing it from activating the switch. The only solution to that  is a longer stem and that would cause the cap to sit higher.

Make the touch surface slightly larger. Although I'm not sure that I would personally trust them to do this right and still have it come out looking good.

I didn't order any extra white Enters, but there are a couple of orphaned ISO adapter kits that people ordered but didn't pay for.  At this point the original orders are forfeit and they'll be up for sale with the extras later on.

OK great - don't want to sound like the negative nancy but I've always believed it do it once do it right.  I would not spend money on keys that look like the example GIF I showed.  I'm excited to move away from the comic-sans modifiers that we have to use from SP and am grateful for any work done in this area :)

Well ... I didn't order any extras, but there are a few orphaned white base kits that people never paid for.  I've worked out arrangements with some of the non-payers (due to Paypal troubles on their end), but most of them have now forfeited their orders.  Their stuff will be for sale as extras after the original orders ship.

Since a few of you have PM'd me asking to buy extras, let me say here that I'm not taking preorders.  Like with my RGBY buy, the first priority of the extras is to replace lost or damaged original orders.  So I will only put the extras up for sale after most of the original orders have arrived (which means two or three weeks for the international orders).

Just one or two molds are feasible. A bit. See round4 and the SPH space bars. Getting thick keys made is impossible because you’d need 14 something different molds. :P

Guess you missed it but the answer seems to be a definitive no. Head back a couple of pages and read hashbaz's response to this request. Essentially he doesn't want to force everyone into getting something that they didn't order based on the wishes of a few.

After talking with suprsmo via PM I want to clarify that the base kits all include a flat, center-mount caps lock.  The stepped caps locks were extras for those that like them, and are not necessary to use a Cherry doubleshot set on a modern keyboard.

My paypal is giving me another option today! I can choose not to pay 'till 2 weeks after I receive my items now! Does anyone else have this option today? Does that mean my credit score is good or something? Or maybe that I buy and sell too much shït here?

I will have 3 new cherry bottom rows, and 1 new cherry un-stepped capslock to sell soon -> the first has arrived. Vintage moogles FTW! My coolant arrived today too! Now all I need is the replacement COV-RP450 so I can fix my computer and start using it again. Next week will be fun! Oh shït... FINALS!... Scratch that...

I'll have to take a picture to send to tsangan. 8 bottom rows and 6 un-stepped capslocks should do it nicely since his pic only had 3 of each.
