There is a program (windows 32bit only). It works quite well, you use the gui and then upload it to the keyboard.

if the program wont run on 64 bit windows im SOL as i dont have any 32bit computers anymore

also since its PS/2 does it work properly when used with a usb adapter like the belkin?

Also would you happen to know if its possible to program layers into it.

I don't use windows, so I had to pull out a spare hard drive and install windows to play.

Also would you happen to know if its possible to program layers into it.

  • Assign scan codes to any key
  • Redefine the key layout with multiple space keys and blanking tiles
  • Define key legends
  • Define momentary and toggle layer shift keys
  • Assign the LED's to any function
  • Enable or disable auto repeat
  • Disable Control + Alt + Delete key combination
  • Set the default Caps Lock & Num Lock states
  • Define MSR operation (where fitted)

I would assume that means layers are a go. As for programming it, you may be able to do that using a virtual machine like XP mode in windows 7, assuming the VM can get proper PS/2 access...

Also, out of curiosity, what profile are the SP double shots from the access board? They look to be the same profile, but I am unsure.

EDIT: Heck, I might as well toss in that I am interested in the ESC, INS, and green F2 key, provided that they are all function row profile.

You could always try Virtual machine with a 32bit OS. Not sure if that'd work or not, not entirely sure.
I miss Ripster :(

My experience with the Access-IS keyboard
  • Programmed over PS/2 under WinXP using Softprog
  • Used it over PS/2 to USB passive adapter under Win7 32bit

Softprog is not user friendly software but it works, it's free, and it's fully featured.

The board looks great with the Filco OEM keys on it. Buy both and I'll discount your purchase (plus you'll save on shipping)!

If TheProfosist backs out for whatever reason, I would be interested in the board itself :)

Just shoot me a PM if it becomes available again.

Well hold on a sec, I'd assume this thing would still work witha 64 bit platform once the programming has been pushed to it, no? Does it need some sort of program running constantly to interpret the presses? Or can it work on any platform once configured/programmed?

Edit: After reading more of the site, the board itself has non-volitile memory to store its programming, and I'm pretty sure that once set, it just presents itself as a simple PS/2 keyboard to the computer. The programming determines the macros it sends at a single keypress.

That is correct. Once programmed, it will work in 64bit OS.
