I have a been using two black switch keyboards over the last few weeks.  I was at a computer show today and Corsair had a display with two of its keyboards.  I typed on them for a second or two and asked if they were black switches (they felt like my keyboard) and the representative said, "no, they are red" and then I remembered that Corsair uses red.  I typed some more to compare and I guess they seemed lighter.  When I got home, I tried my keyboard, and I guess it seemed stiffer. But in both cases, the differences seemed slight - so slight that I am not sure if I would have noticed had I not known the reds should be lighter and was therefore expecting it.

I tend to bottom out a lot - is that why I do not notice much difference? Or do others not really notice that much of a difference either?

If you're pressing so hard on blacks that you bottom them out constantly, then I'd say a lot of switches will feel the same :D

At the same time, there's a big difference between pressing a few keys while standing at a booth, and sitting down and doing some serious typing on a keyboard. You need a day or two of regular usage on a keyboard to make a useful opinion (although there are cases where you will realize from one press that a keyboard is either amazing or terrible, but it's not always clear cut)

What were you typing on before? If you came directly from rubber dome it takes some time to feel the subtleties on each switch, and even mechanical switches in general. I remember with the first few hours of my mechanical I thought the whole thing was overhyped. Then the next day I went back to my rubberdome, and I noticed the world of difference.

Reds are quite different from blacks over extended use.

Most people around me are like : blues suck, too much noise. Reds arent that bad, but nothing that could justify paying 100€ for a keyboard.
With Topre's, most were like : "wtf ? Feels just like any keyboard, but I prefer laptop style keyboards."

But then a lot of them are "fellow" developers, which dont type a lot :D Made my laugh when I saw this guys brand new laptop board. Considering the laptop is actually 3years old, and i have exactly the same, that I use just as he does : for school, at school.
My spacebar is shiny as hell, as are most keys, his are nearly new :D

the only difference between reds and blacks are force. Corsair is pcb mount, which...doesn't change the force, but your fingers feel like they'll be doing slightly more work because of the pcb flexing. This might make your blacks and reds feel similar, especially if your black switches were plate mount.

Mine now is WASD and I was using a Mionix for a few weeks.  Are both of those plate mounted?  So the Corsair's red takes more force than a plate mounted red?  A WASD red would be much lighter in force needed?

Actually I was incorrect in my first post, the Corsair K60 is plate mount. So is the WASD and the Mionix. Which, overall, will take a little personality out of the switch, but their linear so there's no much personality to begin with. In your case, with them all being plate mount, the only difference is 5-10g of weight difference. Which may not be noticeable typing on them side by side for a minute or so, but requires shorter typing session of about 5 to 10 minutes before feeling the differences in weight.

What are pros and cons of using a plate mount versus pcb mount?

Plate mount are sturdier (I guess), and PCB mount are easier to mod.
