The shape interests me, looks like it might be the successor to the copperhead/diamondback. It just depends on if the sensor is a phillips one. Wont buy a mouse with a Z axis issue...

On QC, yes razer is awful but if it is the right size ill take it...

Im on 3500dpi on the deathadder right now, thinking i can go double that.. on 1080 screen         :  ]        Question is what sensor they are using..    If its true 8k dpi, and if it doesnt have any faults, accel, prediction so on..

ofc if you have a 2560x screen i can imagine 8k dpi to be very usable.

Lotrkotte - i agree,  most of their stuff is ugly and very cheap materials used. Which is exactly why this mouse is interesting as youve gotta admit - looks pretty raunchy - and comes in at a higer price point so there is a chance of more premium materials used. Lets hope for the best.

Sorry, I think their stuff is ugly too, but apparently they look "good" to gamers...at least the ones in the competitive scenes I've been involved in.

I nearly caved to the Old Republic Naga mouse, I'm totally taken by the design of that. I got so far as actually ordering one from PC Case Gear but then quickly changed my order to more useful things, like ram, better mousepad and such. So I'm still Razer free.

I just hope people buying into these high DPI mice don't actually set the high DPI and then lower windows sensitivity to their comfort level, just causing themselves more problems. I do like a high DPI but I couldn't top 3000 horizontally on a cloth pad, and had to go down to 1800 on a hardmat, at a 1680 resolution.

The laser is for tracking and the optical sensor is for detecting if the mouse is lifted off of the table...so if you need to readjust the position of your mouse it doesn't go flying across the screen in the heat of battle.  It works well on the other razer's I've tried.  I'm definitely interested in this one for the shape alone.  I love ambidextrous mice.

I don't find Razer internal QC any worse than competing brands. Maybe their ID could use improvement, but it looks like they already started tackling that.

ABS plastic is ABS, though I understand how something can feel cheap based on design.

You are probably right...I think my statement is more frustration at the amount of complaints i've read and having friends with failing razer products.

Looks an awful lot like my Kova+. If its the same it size it might turn out to be a very nice mouse as i kinda like those simple ambidex shapes.

Oh and about that DPI stuff, my current mouse goes up to about 11.4k DPI and i can confirm that those kind of numbers are completely idiotic and unusable LOL. Luckily i can also set it a 'bit' lower, like 1 or 2. Great fun if you wanna mess up your wrist xD

This looks so bad. :/ The last mouse I had from Razer was the Hex and I loved the feel of it but the tracking went to **** and died on me in less than 2 weeks. The only good Razer mouse was the original DeathAdder.

I've had my Lachesis for 2 years now, and nothing is wrong with it besides the side buttons being fadded a bit.
My DA for a year and it is perfectly fine besides the feet that is a bit scratched up because I used it on my wood floor once

I really really liked the shape of the razer copperhead and diamondback, even considered buying an old diamondback to replace my zowie mico which is just too small. I don't really care how the mouse looks or who made it. I think the most important thing is how it feels in your hand.

I think it'd be more accurate to say that there are no other brands with as much of range of differing shapes and sizes for different grip types. There are plenty of well made mice out there by a lot of other brands, they just don't have as much of an appeal over a wider audience. Mionix and Corsair have some great mice, but they're generally just suitable to palm grips so I've no need for them. Steelseries also have some highly regarded mice, even in different sizes, but I feel they would all still be too long for me as I'm a big fan of the short G9x precision grip at 108mm, their smallest mice is still 10mm longer which I don't think I have room for in my grip.

Just made the switch from my deathadder (orignal) to a CoolerMaster Spawn... and I love it..

Took a bit of getting used to.. and the exe is cactus on win7 64 bit seemingly..

But I realised I was a claw gripper from old fps days.. and found my hand more often than not gripping it claw style..

This mouse is made for that.. I got used to it within a day or two, and couldnt use my death adder again.. (used it for a solid 4 years or so). Just hurts the hell out my hand.

SO i love the shape on it CM spawn (if you're a claw gripper) and the texture of the plastic on the left and right click, is silky smooth.. and the grip on the side is a nice touch. Tracking has been great, on my new Corepad.

But yet to jump into an FPS and give it a real go.

I've owned a Lachesis mouse for about four years. All switches (apart from DPI buttons) are Omron, the soft-touch coating is intact, and the drivers have caused no problems.

Yes, their branding is juvenile and manufacturing/design decisions are frequently compromised, but Razer occasionally releases products that perform well and can be used shamelessly by adults. As a lefty, I hope the Taipan can give me cause to replace my aging mouse.

I actually like the Razer look. I'll agree that it does cater heavily to "gamers" and it's often not very pretty, but I like it because it's different. Remove the logo from a CM, Mionix and QPad mouse and I probably couldn't tell the difference. Steelseries are easily identifiable because they're the most boring looking ones and separating between different SS mice can also be problematic. Razer stands out, and when they make a tie-in mouse for a game they put some effort into it, even if the result is some ugly overpriced crap mouse. SteelSeries changes some colours on an existing product and just releases that.

Looking from the pictures though this looks to be a rather boring mouse, but I'll reserve judgment for when I can get a hands-on feel in a store.

Oh, and some might think judging a mouse by it looks may be a little silly, but I have plenty of mice who work great for me, I just enjoy "collecting" them. And I don't really want a collection of mice that look roughly the same. Though for those who only want one mouse I can understand why Razer isn't a very attractive choice.

I've adjusted to using a RAT3 over my copperhead but I do prefer my copperhead although the buttons on both diamondback and copperhead suck compared to the awesomeness of deathadder and cm spawn mouse buttons ...
