After months of reading many threads here and reviews from many places, I ordered my first mechanical keyboard. This is a steep slippery slope indeed as I am already contemplating getting a second in a . . . ooooooh shiny metal keycaps . . .

Group buys take a fair while though, which give you valuable time to think about if you really do want to spend 'X' ...where as ebay dsnt so much lol

I bought a CM Trigger. I'm not sure if I will like the overall size of it. I am currently using a horrible logitech keyboard that is the actually slightly larger. I do alot of computing (typing and gaming) with the lights out so I wanted a backlight. Trigger was the right price.

I don't even remember how many group buys I am a part of. Money is floating around everywhere. It's easy to spend a lot of money on them :P

I'm lucky that my friend is already an avid collector with 8+ mechanical keyboards. He lets me borrow/play with them so I can try before buying. But even with that, I must have more...

I just grabbed some Topres as my first mechanical keyboard. Was not interested in trying 10 different boards or anything extremely noisy so figured I'd go straight to the bad boys and liking them so far. After about 10 minutes I don't think I could go back to rubber domes. These are pretty fun to type and really sturdy compared to the domes. I am bottoming out on every stroke which I'm not sure if it's normal or perhaps I'll adjust to my force after awhile. I've not been great at typing without occasionally having to look to find home row again so I'm going to try to improve that skill or maybe jump into trying an alternative layout (dvorak). Looking forward to the fun. :)

Yep, it looks like it want's a divorce.  Trust me, it will be the OLD "it's not me it's you type of insults".  Then comes the name calling, the cold stares across the kitchen table.  Next comes the boxing of all your items (keyboards included) and placed outside your place.  Of course, when you arrive from work your own keys do not work on the locks anymore because they've been changed.

Next comes the cold nights in some lonely Motel off the interstate, meanwhile your wallet is busy making sweet whoopee with your neighbour.

6 Months from now you'll stand in court fighting over the Topre's and CherryMX's that you've bought and raised over the years.  Of course you'll lose because the judge had it in for you.

Next comes the the sole destroying, ball-crushing reality, that your wallet was playing you for a fool like so many other Geekhackers here on this forum.  Especially in the Classifieds.........damn you.
