Wish I would have held out a little longer and gotten the 850 instead of the 840. Tired of the non-stop issues and firmware half-fixes.

My $55 Das Keyboard arrived, and it was in very good shape. I tested the keys (all worked), popped the blank POM keycaps, vacuumed out the fluff, found an extra keyboard spring from who-knows-where, popped in the side-printed POM keycaps I got a few days ago (all but the space and the capslock fit, which doesn't really matter to me, I just used the originals). I'm posting this in the "Lot of Das II's for $80 Shipped" (I paid $55 shipped) in the Great Finds subforum, but here are the pictures:

As it looked like unboxed, with blank POM keycaps:
101960-0

As it looked like without keycaps:
101962-1

And finally, as it looks right now as I type:
101964-2

If you notice the trash bag under it -- well, I wanted to make sure the mystery fluff didn't get anywhere before I got rid of it. It was surprisingly clean, though. I rather like the dramatic, semi-stealthy look.

That keyboard isn't very ergonomic. And why does it have two space bars?

One is 6.25x, the other is 7x (for winkey and winkeyless keyboards).

Awesome mouse came today turns out they went on sale just after I asked air tree to help me, but thanks again for offering buddie

Awww, they sent you a used/damaged one.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Today I got my first ANSI keyboard. My previous keyboard was a QFR-I with MX Blue. The high pitched bump on that thing had been going on my nerves for a while. I cringed whenever I had to type on it. The Novatouch feels like a whole other world; heavier, sturdier and deeper, even with the stock keycaps on. The keys offer even resistance and feel rigid.

Seems odd that L alt is flipped but not the spacebar, assuming R alt being flipped is just for symmetry's sake

What's the reasoning behind the flipped alt keys?
After transitioning to US layout for programming and making Nordic characters accessible with Alt Gr, I kept missing the Alts with my thumb. So I flipped them to make them stand out, making it easier to navigate the bottom row with my thumbs.   ;)

a butt ton of paper samples for some book design and the Filco Ninja Majestouch 2 TKL w/ Brown Switches that I ordered YESTERDAY (after much consideration and deliberation.) desk shot.

Now searching high and low for a nice DSA or DCS cap set. meow a cat was right about the oem keycaps on the filcos. (poop.)
My girlfriend just sent me a text message saying she found a nice pink set on pinterest. i might have to get her one too.

Nice! Those are one of the gateron switches I want to try! People seem to like them quite a lot better than their cherry counterparts.
