Sweet!
I think I'm going to leave it the way it is. I've never typed on a silenced one before but I like this one how it feels now. I'm just using it at home as well since I'll only take a 60% on the go with me so I don't really have to worry about the noise.
My next keyboard I'm planning on buying is a type S HHKB though so I can click in public quietly lol
I would just buy a regular HHKB and silence it myself. It's rather quiet tbh and you save a few bucks.
I mean, I already have a regular black HHKB.
Which is actually surprisingly quiet, you're right.
But I want a white one too lol.
So I figured I might as well get the silenced one. I haven't even looked at the price differences between them yet though.

Price difference is around 100 dorrah basically if you buy new. Not worth it to me personally lol.
It's like do I wanna spend extra 100 on the type-s or just buy 3 dollar dental bands and some lube? I'm a cheapskate by nature though.
I'm cheap like that too! Bought a Type Heaven before moving up to a Realforce; sourced my own microcellular urethane foam and spent hours on a laser before buying Hypersphere silencing rings. Until I knew exactly what I wanted I wasn't going to drop significant money on a maybe.
But those silencing rings, and I'm talking the proper ones (no offense -- I literally went to the dentist yesterday) ... those silencing rings are like tuning an instrument for the first time. To me silencing a Topre isn't about keeping noise levels down for those around you -- this isn't an MX blue or a clicky alps. Silencing a Topre enhances the thock.
And you're right about the HHKB Type-S upcharge -- that is steep! That said even with a bag of silencing rings I did not hesitate to pull the trigger when I found a Topre with everything I'd ever considered my must-have's: 104-key PBT, 45g uniform rubber, and silenced. And I got this with zero mods, no keyboards sacrificed, nothing swapped, greased, stickered or lubed, just ready for the business. I've grown to love the
pure white caps. They are totally legible in the dark with just the monitor backlight.
If you're on the fence about silencing I think the absolute best value is the Hypersphere rings, especially for a HHKB you only need the smaller quantity.
